A short length of welded link chain suspended below the rope enables easier positioning. A short rope strop with eyes either end attached below that chain can be unclipped by the ground crew, the eye slipped over the hock & threaded back through a slit in the hamstring. Then clipped back onto the lower chain link. Karabiners are convenient for joiners. The gambrel is awkward to use & easy to fail. When you get really sharp, graduate to an elevated strop between the legs & pick it up with a small grapnel.

Don't be ashamed of your emotions and compassion, for these animals! We owe them that much, at least!! If we had no emotion or compassion, we would have lost our cherished Whitetails, YEARS ago, because we would have never "followed up" on a shot, if the deer ran off. We would have waited for another, then another, then another....... until we didn't need to "follow up". Praise you, for still having that in you, Mike! ❤

If you have several big bicks in a given area drones are less likely to blow out the rest than dogs and people trecking through there.

The method is clearly quite an effective option for locating lost animals. Where does the line fall with regulations using aircraft between hunting & recovery, & is this the same throughout US? It makes sense to use this method wherever permitted for those unable to locate their victims, but sensible & reason can be elusive. Think election results
