Very sad to think that a number of people in this video will have had HIV before anyone had any clue it even existed.

I worked at Bedford Hills prison in the early eighties my friend was going to take me there and he told me the story.... why would I go somewhere standing out there begging the motherfuker to let me in ??? I may have gotten him cuz I was pretty good looking back then or not I'd rather not.... I know one thing the early 80s had the best cocaine LOL😮

I have never been to New York or the USA. And I was born in the 90s, after the end of the Disco era. I would really like to visit this incredible, crazy, bright era of the 60-70s, but all I can do is contemplate, be nostalgic and enjoy this era by watching videos on KZbin.

This period in america immediately preceded the tragedy of the aids epidemic. I know someone who worked at studio 54 and said the debauchery in the notorious 'basement' of 54 was particularly depraved.

You really had to have a special look, famous name or stick out in the right way before you would be allowed in because of Steve Rubbell, one of the two owners. He spent alot of time standing at the front door knit picking on who could/couldn't come in.Hundreds if not thousands got turned away from entering and this created some animosity between Rubbell and customers. However it never caused business to dwindle.Rubbell later died of aids years after Studio closed their doors.

I grew up as a young child listening to my parents late night disco music parties in the 70's (which I still love). Then electro, then I started clubbing in 1989/90 with house and techno. I'm so glad I grew up in an age where the music was the reason we were in the in the club. DJ worship, pretty selfies, paying hundreds for entry and drinks would have been nightmare back then. Fuck the overground dance scene.
