So I've been trying to find any player he's coached up, or great line hes had, to get me excited about Marrone, but in 30 years the only recognizable name is Cam Robinson, and Marrone was HC for his selection and development, so Im not sure if thats his success, really. Can you point to any offensive line specific win for Marrone in the past 30 years? A past 2nd round oick hes coached up to pro bowl status perhaps, or a top OL?

The Mayo staff was mostly inexperienced. They were forced to move guys around the O-line all season. Wolfe's idea of moving guys from RT to LT being easy was shooting the team in the foot. Wolfe LT draft plan was a kid that had only played RT in college and trading for and paying guaranteed $ to a career RT who was already a bit of a malcontent. I'm expecting Vrabel to manage Wolfe's moves after seeing how he supported 😮Mayo.

Great episode! I don't think enough talk is on the OL is center. LT is a priority but they need a center as well.

@NightowlProductionsGroup3 күн бұрын
Good analysis, guys. But Dan, you have to stop hedging your words when describing Elliott Wolf. Say it! Wolf went WOKE and all in on DEI hires. It was not “merit based.” There were no good ol’ boys drafted. Something on purpose some think. He went for a “culture.” No cornfed hawgs - None, except Drake Maye. If that’s the continued philosophy, the Patriots go for, they will continue to be “also-rans,” no matter how many coaches they bring in.

If the Eagles blitz Daniels a lot they will get blown out. He actually is better against the blitz and man coverage than he is in zone. Nothing cheap nothing deep attack his line with the front four and make him drive the length of the field. Too many quick wrs plus Ekeler out of the backfield to blitz it makes it easy for him.

Getting to him quickly doesn’t have to mean they’re blitzing

Wild to me that some fans would actually stick nose up at Mike or Josh-let alone both. Both of em are elite when it comes to situational football. There's always a hot OC or 2 that comes up for hire & it's literally a crap shoot & despite the hype many fail. Vrabel's proven. And so is Josh when it comes to OC. Ones acting like Josh is a dinosaur are severely ignorant. Acting like he called plays in the 60s lmao. All this "modern" OFF talk is silly. Which disappointed me bout far as Orlovsky . He knows full well that these "modern" OCs haven't reinvented the wheel; And def aren't making up crazy new plays never seen before. What they are doing is window dressing, with dif stacks & motions. Which is great & can add some creativity & cause confusion but at end of the day, the plays themselves aren't any dif post snap. Can Josh adapt to new NFL? Hes only been out of the league for a yr, like wtf we doing?! He's perfect hire for so many reasons. Obv qualified; has done it before; and that's important for this team. Especially after this last yr. Find me an OC who's had wild success who hasn't had, at min, a good OL & elite supporting cast of weapons; If not an all-time QB. A QB ya can win with + Elite weapons can make a lot of OCs look good. I'm 1 of the biggest it was mostly Tom guys, but it's a fact that Brady took off with McDaniels as his OC, and his most prolific seasons were with Josh as OC. And Josh & Tom weren't always working with the assortment of skill players either. When most thought Moss was washed, we saw what Brady & Josh did with a true #1 wr. Cassel, Max, a washed Cam, Jimmy, Brissett. And there's only 1 Tom, but some of us think Drake is a QB ya win cuz of. And smart nuf to understand what Josh is capable of with 1 of them 1s

Nobody is saying that Josh/Vrabel won't be a solid oc/head coach, just that they were the safe choices & some fans wanted fresh ones with new ideas & faces

Listen: after the past five seasons, and seeing what the organization has put out on the field. I feel like I finally have a breath of fresh air. Vrabel isn't going to let this team look like a JV high school football team. I hope he brings that winning spirit back to New England. At least get this team to look, and act like an NFL team.

I have no concerns about the disipline & attitude, to me its about whether Vrabel can help find elite, hall of fame blue-chip talent to bring Drake Maye to a top five QB in the league

You obviously spend a lot of time resourcing information and guests for your podcast. Tip of the cap to you, Mike. The Krafts continue to impress me. Obviously, they gave their word to Mayo that he would replace Belichick and he did. The Krafts were not expecting that Bels would fall so rapidly forcing them to elevate Mayo sooner than they had thought. They stayed true to their word and gave Mayo his shot. Clearly, Mr. Mayo wasn't ready for the promotion so the Krafts made the hard decision of letting him go. This is an example of the Kraft family being one of the top team owners in the NFL.

Having Steve and Thomas Murphy on your show Mike, makes it the best podcast to enjoy. Rational thinking, relaxed not hyped up n out of your minds, explaining your thoughts , knowledge, and reasoning. I hope you keep it going for the foreseeable future, years to come, hopefully into the good times that may await the Patriots. No guarantees. 50 50 that they get bk to the gd 20 years , or back to 65 thru 2000. A gd season peppered in there once every 7 yrs or so, on avg over 35 yrs. Many 0 to 4 win seasons in that span. Hopefully free agency and the draft will give you the chance to pin some hope on this season. Thank you for your time n show.

Maye doesn't need a stud line, Focus on the defense and penalties.
@christiantrinidade915014 күн бұрын
@@df224 Maye was running for his life and was concussed at least a couple of times. Maye was not even in the first few games. Investing some of their huge cap money on a starting LT instead of the earnest but overmatched Lowe would be a good start. How many penalties on Lowe or his replacement were because they were trying to compensate their limited talent? I think that one established FA NFL LT would return more than you think.
@df22414 күн бұрын
@christiantrinidade9150 I agree he needs a good line, he doesnt need all pro-bowl studs and needs focused disciplined players in front of him that can snap a ball. Maye is mobile. It's a weapon that makes him even more of a threat but not always on broken plays. The defense was pathetic as well. The patriits need to find players that still need to play for the big paycheck rather than numerous content veterans who have lost incentive to play hard because they have made their money.
