I'd go with the General G-MAX RS if you're interested in one of the tires in this video. It's the best bang for the buck. If money is no object then I'd go for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S because they're the best performance tire that you can daily drive. These are summer tires so depending on where you live you may want an ultra high performance all-season tire. If that's the case I'd go with the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS+. It's a good performance/value tire. It's a shame the Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3 doesn't come in that size, otherwise I'd go with that. I hope this helps.

Scratch the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. I forgot to check if it came in your size. It doesn't. The Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 does and it's the runner up to the Michelin in my opinion.

@@ekremekrem6649 I'm not as familiar with these tires but generally speaking, comfortable and quiet tires fall into the "Grand Touring" tire category and they should grip more than adequately for the occasionally spirited drive through the turns. They will also last a lot longer than a performance-oriented sport tire which has softer rubber. They also put performance first and tend to ride harsher and can sometimes be louder due to the more aggressive tread patterns. Michelin tires often good for doing everything well but they usually cost the most. The Michelin Primacy 4+ might be the best choice of the bunch for you. It's a "Grand Touring" Summer tire and should be comfortable and quiet while still handling very well though not quite to the level of a high performance sport tire.

CrossClimate2 is my choice and still using them 365 days per year. Had them since December 2022 as gone through 2 U.S. Northeast winters as where I live gets an annual average of 126 inches of snowfall. Still have plenty of tread and expect to last another 4 whole years. I don't have to swap between Summer/ All-Season to Winter/Snow tires as CC2's are All-Weather and all year round tires. However, you do lose 2 to 4 MPG on fuel efficiency sometimes worse MPG depending on terrain, how you drive - aka driver bad habits, and maintaining proper PSI - inflation. Expect to get more life as the CC2 should get you between 60,000 to 80,000 miles before replacing. A couple of KZbinr Video folks have claimed 100k miles on CrossClimate2s. They are relatively quiet, except in snow, handle weather conditions well, and good on the road. Comfort depends on wheel size ... I have 235/40R19 [2023 Toyota Camry XSE V6] and on good surfaced roads they are comfortable, get on choppy and terrible roads I tend to feel all the roads imperfections. Overall, CC2 is a great tire. The OE tires were BridgeStone Turanza EL440's which are 1,000 percent dangerous and unsafe tires as I had them shredded. The Best Top 3 Brand Name tire companies are Michelin, Continental, Pirelli, and worth an honorable mention is Good Year. Stay far away from any Asian/Korean/Japan made tires and that include Mexico.

@@xbotbananaboi7064 The ride quality should be the same for both sizes because the sidewall height for the tire is the same 45% of 245mm = 110.25mm or 4.34 inches. If you're also buying wheels at the same time you want to make sure they will fit since the rolling diameter of the 19" wheels is going to be significantly more than the 18" wheels with the same tire width and sidewall height. @@xbotbananaboi7064 I haven't personally tried the Cinturatos myself but current feedback from customers is excellent. In general though, the v-groove directional tires can sometimes be a little noisier so that could be a factor. Otherwise, the P7 AS Plus 3s aren't as new and have an outstanding track record with some of the highest marks for comfort. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but that said, as a newer tire gets more miles from customers and more feedback comes in, the general sentiment can change so the AS Plus 3 is the safer pick.

Unfortunately, for rain the best option is to go with an on-road oriented all-terrain tire like the Falken WildPeak A/T Trail or Nitto Nomad Grappler. Off-road tires, MT, RT, or Off-Road All-Terrains like the K02 can't be driven on aggressively or at higher speeds in the rain without a little "pucker factor" to say the least.

My BF Goodrich All Terrain T/As are terrifying in the rain. I've had 8 sets of them since 1979 and this is the second bad set I've had. From my research the quality varies greatly. One set will be great and the next will be terrible. I won't buy another set. At $1200/set it isn't worth the gamble.

Sorry to hear you've had issues with KO2s. That's a lot of money to drop on a set of tires. They definitely need to be dependable on and off road. If you decide to try them again make sure you adhere to the warranty requirements if you encounter quality issues again. Off-Road Optimized All Terrain tires generally are very poor in the rain but owners tend to have had the best experiences with the ones in this video. I recommend swapping to On-Road Optimized for better rain traction on the streets but that usually runs counter to the goals of owning a set of Off-Road Optimized tires. Tires are often about tradeoffs unfortunately. Good luck my friend.

@@BeardedRaven Essentially, Off-Road all terrain tires will all perform poorly, but On-Road all terrain tires like the Falken WildPeak A/T Trail jump up in wet on-road performance but obviously drop off in their off-road abilities. Stepping even further away from all-terrain capabilities to something to a Touring All Season tire like the Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive will dramatically improve wet traction. If an off-road all terrain tire is what you need, unfortunately the tires in this video are as good as it gets. It's the nature of the chunky block design and an inevitable tradeoff.

@@tiregrades1025 What is the softest riding tire in a 195/50/R16?

Based on ride quality and road noise, here are the top three picks: The Vredestein Quatrac tire scores an impressive 9.0 for ride quality and 8.7 for noise. It provides a very smooth and quiet ride. It also performs awesome in wet conditions and has good dry traction. The General AltiMAX RT45 has a ride quality score of 8.9 and a noise score of 8.7 and has a very comfortable and quiet ride as well as handling well on both wet and dry roads. Last, the Bridgestone WeatherPeak scored 8.6 and a noise score of 8.0. It's great in the wet and dry like the others. The CrossClimate 2 would be on the list but it's currently unavailable and probably going to be replaced with a new and improved model. Hope that helps!

When he says that you can only used directional tires on the same side of the car... that isn't *totally* true; you can rotate a directional-tire from one side of the car to the other side, IF you have that tire unmounted from the wheel, flipped over, then remounted onto the wheel. That way, the directional tread will still be correct and can be used on the other side of the vehicle. Given, that is a bit of a hassle and expense (especially if you are rotating a full-sized spare directional spare tire, then you'll have to have 2 of the tires unmounted and flipped over and remounted). But if only rotating 4 directional tires, front-to-back and back-to-front, then no hassles there.
@tiregrades1025
@tiregrades1025 10 ай бұрын
You're correct. I omitted that tidbit since the majority of the benefit from rotating tires is from front to back. I mentioned you could do this in the linked article though.

I was hoping this was about how recommended pressures on the door placard is determined from the manufacturer. I'd wager it's based on the tire(s) that come stock on the vehicle. Specifically the load range.
@tiregrades1025
@tiregrades1025 10 ай бұрын
I don't know the answer, but I believe they weigh each corner to get an appropriate load index. I'd bet they work backward from there to determine how much pressure gives the optimum balance between comfortable ride, good traction, and even tire wear. Similar load index tires will likely perform fairly similar with the same amount of air pressure. All speculation on my part though. Load range could work too but load index is a little more granular.
