I use SwitchBot temp/humidity sensors. I got a FOUR pack for CHEAP and they work with Alexa and SmartThings and can do routines based off of their info. They have been working good for me and use TWO AAA batteries that last a good while (about a year or more). I am ALL for "new" and useful products and this video just provides MORE options to people out there.

Hey John, as long as you're happy! SwitchBot had some delay for me on certain types of sensors with Alexa but I think definitely on the Temp/Humid side it's just fine.

Man! IDK this "lock" option is absolutely HUGE and gaudy AF IMO. Yes, it's great for renters but as a homeowner I could never stand looking at this giant monstrosity on my WHITE door in ANY room. I have Ring alarm and use a Schlage smart deadbolt and is WAY far less of an eyesore attached to my door! Switching out a deadbolt is really NOT that hard and there are even videos on how to do this if you are not knowledgeable. I still have a KEY option in the event of a battery failure but after almost 4yrs of use I always replace the batteries when the Ring app tells me the batteries are low and have only done this twice thus far. I'd rather replace the guts of a deadbolt as opposed to looking at this attached to my door.

Hello sir I hope that you are doing ok Thanks all the time for your instructive videos. So far after having many automations. The few ones that keep working are the ones with this sensor. Unfortunately my other ones in apple HomeKit they don’t do it anymore For the last two weeks I cannot create any automations in the home app whatsoever. The error is like that when I am trying to create one, it tells me could not complete operation that is the message. I have done practically almost anything. Restarting my phone, among many other things I even called Apple home support and no success, they are still trying to figure it out, they are even escalating to the engineering team. Don’t know what else to do Any ideas or input will be greatly appreciated…
@quicktechreviewssАй бұрын
Weird...I don't know what to tell you. Apple HomeKit I have always had luck with a reboot of the Home Hub. So whatever the HomeKit app says is the Home Hub, give that a reboot. I do my WiFi network too at the same time. Usually things come back. One thing I wonder too...if you connected it to Aqara's hub? That seems to join Thread networks that Apple may not have access to. Maybe something broke Thread wise. Check the network your Aqara hub is connected to if you're using one.
@Carlos76gatoАй бұрын
Yes that is very weird for sure. Thanks for your response, I will definitely do that. Also maybe my thread network is messed up somehow. So frustrated but I really appreciate your input in this matter. Hopefully I will get a solution. Since as you know the ultimate goal is automate not piling up with smart devices but being able to automate as all of you content creators have thought us. You are a great content creator and best one explaining details and intricancies or your videos, extremely knowledgeable as well. Keep up the good work Thanks again Man !!!

I've read it produces a kind of high pitched annoying noise when the inverter ramps down the power. Do you find that to be true?

I hadn't noticed anything like that. I find it really quiet. High pitched noises are usually from filters getting too much in them. So maybe some folks just need to clean? I don't know!

IDK. I have the Ring 3 Plus released a few years ago now and it has preformed WELL over the years. To INVEST in another camera that basically does the same thing offers no "worth" to me to upgrade for the price. I have a solar panel connected that I hacked and cut the wires myself and have have NEVER had to recharge it since. I personally have NO need for facial recognition and just want to know when someone approaches my home. The Ring 3 Plus has a black and white PRE-ROLL feature and suits my needs and can still talk to visitors even while not at home. The COST is a turn-off for me especially in today's economic times. If Ring offered an "upgrade" price I might consider it and would gladly send back my current doorbell but at total cost - it's a NO!

Ok, but just turn on continuous recording. I get that the detection isn't perfect and there are cases where they screw up. For sure. However, this has been perfect for a few months now. I currently have the v3 in a PROTECTIVE HOUSING. Will the V4 fit in this housing?
@johnszatkowski6898Ай бұрын
Great video! I just wanna mention my current use case. I have the Ring 3 Plus battery doorbell cam purchased a few years ago now and it does NOT have the birds-eye view but it will set off other cameras to record when motion is detected per my choosing per the Ring app (provided you have a subscription). The Ring 3 plus has pre-roll which is black and white for several seconds then switches to full color and works well even at night so long as the Wifi signal is strong and have proper lighting (solved with a Chime Pro) and a smartlight on my porch. I also have a roof over my porch so I modified a Ring solar panel (cut and stripped the wires) to keep my doorbell constantly charged and haven't had an issue for over well THREE years now even in the winter! Yes this model you reviewed it no doubt better but with what I have I can still talk to people in real time when NOT at home and is only 1080p which is really PLENTY for most and offers package delivery detection too! Indeed what I have is NOT the best offering but it still gets the job done and for me I CAN'T justify the added cost to upgrade! For someone "new" this a great upgrade by far!
