This is absolutly splendid. The Bwv852 is astonishing, especially the prelude, which just sounds right on a pipe organ. Thank you, maestro for this wonderful recording. It is like the "Königlich Polnischen und Kurfürstlich Sächsischen Hofkomponist" is here in the flesh once again

It would be nice to see this organ repaired and reinstated one day. Perhaps in conjunction with a major rebuild and enlargement.

I wear well no matter how much I listen to this organ performance The organ sound will quench and moisturize the dryness and rusted soul

Cette interprétation du BWV847 est particulièrement réussie. L’orgue lui va très bien. Il est très intéressant d’en écouter des versions sur divers instruments comme le pianoforte, le clavecin, piano, guitare, etc.

Great memory reviver of a great organ whose restoration I have had a lot of input into. Not heard live since 2013 but due for reinstallation next year. Thanks John Parker for sharing and Robert Costin for your fine playing of seldom heard music.

Superbe ! Œuvre recréée en quelque sorte pour l’orgue et servie par une variété et une légèreté de touchers. Vraiment magnifique ! Merci pour cette belle interprétation au service de l’écriture contrapuntique.

The works of Bach are so inspired that they transcend instrumentation. It is a pleasure to hear the WTC rendered on the organ and these performances are splendid. Thank you for sharing.

Bach's music is heavenly inspired, and i think the organ has a sound that goes right in the soul. Id love to hear other pieces played at the organ as well, but thank you a lot for this!

In my opinion, the organ is the best instrument to play the Well Tempered "Keyboard" preludes and fugues! The organ can prolong the sounds as long as you want. It's like a "chorale". Organ is the king of all keyboard instruments, it's a kind of "baroque synthesizer". 🎸🇧🇷🇮🇱

Finally the ending of prelude 22 makes sense. Because the piano can't sustain the top Bb long enough, the piece misses the sound like a perfect cadence. (I replay the held Bb on beat 3 of the last measure, but hearing it sustained on an organ is just right--no pun intended). Thank you for sharing this. Do you know if the organ is itself well-tempered or is modernly "corrected" to equal tuning? To me the fifths sound increasingly hard as the music goes through more exotic chords, which would make sense for a well-tempered organ.

Many thanks for your comment, I'm very grateful. I believe it's well-tempered, probably Werkmeister to my ears.

Thank you for such a wonderful interpretation! Knowing well that Bach was an organist at the core, it never really struck me how the music he produced was so interleaved with his experience at the instrument. And, now it makes perfect sense! Having studied his music for many years, and played it myself, mostly on the piano, I do feel a little bit stupid to have come to this revelation only now. But, that is a credit to you and how you make his music come alive.

Lovely to hear how the organ slows this down to a suitable tempo. Modern pianos are capable of speed which ruins everything

this recording blew me away many times, and I think your choices of registration and articulation were really well suited for the organ and the original music. this is before considering how impressive it is to record both books. the only thing I can think to change would be to occasionally add pedal, I think a nice 16' or 32' would really help on just the pedal point at the end of the louder fugues (edit: i just got up to the end of book 1 and heard you do this at the end of the b minor, very cathartic ending for the end of the book). really well done, and thank you, I really enjoyed this performance

Many thanks, I appreciate your comment. I think I'd use more pedal in places if I recorded it again. There are some obvious places to use it like the ends of the A minor Fugue Book 1 and the G minor Fugue Book 2. I also remember adding it in the E minor Fugue Book 2. Endless possibilities!

An abomination that this fine instrument was removed after a small "shake" from an earthquake which only dislodged a handful of display pipes and minor damage sustained by the Pedal soundboard. This magnificent organ was replaced by an electronic organ!!!! Shame on the Anglican diocese of Wellington!

I worked for the Croft company when the organ was rebuilt and enlarged in the early 1980's. A much underated instrument - no sadly removed :(
