Great job, but no need to be so humble with the disclaimers. It's obvious you know what's up. I have a professionally edited novel and begin the query journey next week. I'm going to pay my editor for query help because I'm clueless. I like to think I possess some degree of writing talent, but I don't have an entrepreneurial bone in my body. Not interested in the business side of it at all, and honestly, I just want to pay someone to do it. Is there a preferred query service for someone like me? Someone with a quality manuscript (seriously, it's been meticulously edited and proofread) who isn't confident in seeking agents, or is there no getting around me doing the work myself? Thanks.

I always wrote my query letters in Wingdings. Wot was I finking riting fings in wingdings. I may as well as been doing that because that is as much attention they will take to your query letter.

Read this last month. Not good. This felt rushed by the publisher to capitalize on his previous success. Your review is spot on, plus Marianna is kind of stupid throughout the book. The ending was so forced just for a 'twist'.

Mine is about a man that becomes a Vigilante that hurts for the Werewolf that killed his Fiance, the other hero is a human/Demon hybrid that fights for good instead of evil. It has magic, Vampires, Ghouls, even mummies. Is that too much?

Your aversion to Courier is unfortunate in my opinion. It is the default font for output in a lot of software and was the standard for a very long time. A lot of books and online tutorials still recommend it and many submission guidelines still accept it. I can understand you not wanting to see purple text in tiny Comic Sans, but if people send you a manuscript in a font that was literally the only font to use for submission for many decades, you should probably relax your personal 'ick' a little. Of course, technology always moves forwards, and in the age of computers with snappy wordcount functionality the need for monospaced fonts is made moot, but it is still a valid font that a lot of people are used to and do find easy to read. If your agency's website specifically says not to use Courier, then I will be on your side, otherwise, I think you should be more aware of the role of that font.

Hot tip when pasting anything into an email: right-click and choose “paste as plain text.” (Windows: CTRL-SHIFT-V). This removes any formatting and allows the text to be read normally in the email body. 👍🏼

Sharing your experience as a person who actually read and screened thousands of queries was helpful. But here's a tip for you from a video producer: don't shoot your videos with your bed in the background. Not very professional.

With respect…Avery isn’t interviewing for a job, on the news, or submitting this to her workplace. She made a (very) insightful video on KZbin, giving tips to viewers. I personally don’t see how a bed - functional piece of furniture - isn’t perfectly appropriate for this setting. Next time maybe evaluate the situation before providing constructive criticism : )

seeing all of these young girls recognise douchbags for what they are just makes me so happy and proud for how far we've come as women. It made my heart sing when one girl even said that she did not want Kya to be with Tate either, ditto girl, ditto. I have hope for our future.
