Hey there! I'd love to be part of those talks in the future as well! I'm still using colossal for the most part, but for strings I'm slowly transitioning into the performance samples stuff instead of CSS (vista and fluid shorts mostly)

I'll have to produce loooooots of orchestral music in a near future so i'm looking for the "best" or at least "most future prooved" tempalte :) Have a nice day ! :)

wow astonishing wait you're using musescore, how did you get to place the bar number in the fullscore right at the bottom? is it plugin bcs i apparently only can have it at the top thanks for that btw

idk why they bother with hiring real orchestras these days. I'd pocket that budget money and just have a synthestrator polish my cues lol

I think the expression "mock-up" has become a bit silly these days and is now rather dated. Current technology has reached the point where you can create amazing orchestral soundtracks with home computers and a few hundred dollars worth of VSTs, on a level fit to be used in films "as is". I get that for some composers who strictly aim at making music to be played by a live orchestra, the expression still kinda makes sense, but if you produce a mindblowing sounding piece like this here, calling it "mockup" it sounds quite ridiculous. Any non-musician or non-expert/super-into-audio-stuff (99.99% of the population) would never been able to tell that this wasn't the original track played by a live orchestra.

I think it is possible to create music with good sound quality with vsts, however live orchestras remain much better especially for pieces like this one, which utilizes various instrumental techniques. Most people wouldn’t be able to tell that it’s fake, but I believe they would absolutely feel it has a lot less life than the actual live version. I don’t believe any film with a good enough budget would use that as is, imo.

Cinema keeps orchestras alive. That said, i think vsts can be almost as effective as (not as good as) live orchestras especially(!) for hybrid scores! I love both worlds.
