This video is very helpful and comforting. My dog is having heartworm treatment on Tuesday. She's a rescue, but she got them a year after we adopted her. She hates her crate and primarily sleeps and hangs out on the bed, so I'm worried about keeping her in her crate since she hasn't been in there for a least a year. She hates going outside too, but she runs and jumps all over the apartment. I'm also worried about her jumping on the bed because, again, it's her primary place for everything.

Thank you so much. I fostered/adopted a young (5 years old or less, they said) little guy, a Shih-tsu I named Bernie, about 6 weeks ago. They told me he was heartworm positive when I went to pick him up. I gave him Doxycycline for 30 days. Then they gave him two shots of Macrocyclic Lactone, over a two day period. He's been home for 2 weeks now, and I have kept him quiet, but, having watched your video, I'm going to keep him more quiet and more calm than I have been. So, thank you. They said to keep him quiet for a month, which is less than you were advised. So, at the end of the month, I will call the humane society, and ask if I should keep him calm for a longer period. They said he was a, "Stage 1-2." Not as serious as the worst, Stage 4. One thing they did that you didn't mention was that they x-rayed him to see how serious his condition was. Did you know what stage your dog was? I have to tell you that I feel much more educated than I did before watching your video. Clearly, you are a kind woman, to have seen a need for your video, then went on to make one. Bernie says hello.

Today I just adopted a pit/mix Sheppard. I already have two dogs at home. Monday we were at the shelter. We made sure the dogs would get along with other dogs. Lucy was the only one that got along They said she’s heartworm positive. Advantage Multi. 250 milligrams of imidacloprid+62.5mg moxidectin. Give it to her in the back of her neck every month.

Thank you for this video. We are prepping for my dog's injections and crate rest. Nervous! But it helps to hear about your experience.

I just took my rescue dog for her first dose of Diroban yesterday. We go back this am, 24 hours later to get the 2nd dose. She was VERY lethargic after the first dose and didn't get off the couch until this am. She's feeling better now. We will see how the 2nd dose goes today.
