Not bad. I do worry a little about heat dissipation for the battery. I don't know how hot this particular one might get but adding a basic heatsink should help ensure it gets the job done. Cutting into the frame is a bit iffy too. Some welding of the battery frame to the frame could help with overall stability but that's also a whole other thing right there. It's not a significant chunk out of it so it should be fine but frame work is always hit or miss with modifications.
@MidModifications27 күн бұрын
Yeah I have been getting a lot of comments about heat dissipation. I think that it should be fine, but just as a precaution I was planning to add some sort of heatsink or air cooling system just in case. The frame cutting was a bit sketchy too. I added reinforcement to the back of the frame where I cut it, so Im not worried about that one as much.

Well on you for doing a 'self-build' 👍 They are sooo much fun! I'm not a massive fan of the whole battery/frame modifications you did, but hey it's not that bad, and hopefully the frame won't break on you. I would've mounted the battery the other way, and put the controller inside the frame too (but hey, we're all different). But overall you did great & it looks pretty cool too. About 18 months ago I did a self build too, using a 26" Scott mtb & 1500w Voilamart kit with a 52v20ah triangle battery (fits perfectly inside the frame) and I love it... I hope you and your self built e-beast have many a great journey, all the best my fellow e-builder/biker!!! ⚡🚲⚡ 👍👍👍 Maybe get some Schwalbe (marathon) tyres for it, and a suspension seat-post, makes a massive difference to ride quality and with the Schwalbes I've done over 6000 miles with zero punctures.
@MidModifications28 күн бұрын
Woah I could definitaly use some better tires cause mine constantly go flat. Like every 2 hrs. A suspension seat would be good too, I could get on using that. Thanks for your advice!
@MickyBee7328 күн бұрын
@@MidModifications you're welcome, and the Schwalbe 'marathon' not even the latest ones, as I bought these around 2 years ago...they are amazing tyres, after 6000+ miles they still grip excellently and I've had zero punctures, I also use Schwalbe inner-tubes with the tyres... The inner tubes are cheap (around £5 each) and I think I only paid about £45 for the two 26" x 1.50 wide tyres.. they are also great for speed too and work great in the wet as well as the dry... Can't rate Schwalbe tyres highly enough.. I'm doing a 3000w build in the next few months (if I can save enough😅) and I'll definately be putting Schwalbes on it, but I might try the newer 'marathon plus' version.. Apparently the 'marathon +' have a slightly thicker inner anti-puncture lining in them than the standard 'marathon' as in the Schwalbe tyres they have what's called 'green guard' anti puncture lining inside them, amazing tyres ⚡🚲👍

I wouldn’t trust those cheap blue rectangle packs, they are known for poor build quality. Also cutting aluminum with a normal cutoff disk will cause aluminum to melt into the blade and potentially overheat the blade and make it explode. However I’ve personally done it before and taken it slow and it hasn’t happened to me yet, but it’s just something to be aware of. I’d like to see a 72v build, I also built a 48v bike as my first bike and thought it was fast, but a good 72v bike is on a whole different level. Try to get a good triangle pack so you don’t have to massacre the frame.
@MidModificationsАй бұрын
Yeah I want to make a 72v build as well. I really didnt want to cut the frame, but it was either cut the frame or cut the battery lol. I was looking into the triangle packs but they were a tad more expensive than the rectangle ones and I was short on money at the time. I will also remember not to cut aluminum with the normal disk, thank you for that!

You should put Orangeseal sealant in those tires or you can expect ALOT of flats! What I do Is buy the slime tubes. Then I remove the valve and replace the green slime with orangeseal. I just wash it out using really warm water, in case there is some thickened slime stuck in the tube. Hope this helps!
