What size tees and pipe nipples are used in this design?

Can you share result with us with a test? When tank and distribution hose are empty and supply pipe is full of water. How many triggers it takes to let it cycle itself?

I'm not sure what you are asking, but you need at least 10 psi in the delivery pipe for the pump to work by itself. You can artificially do this by closing the 3/4 inch ball valve on the delivery side and open it slightly to let a little bit of water through. I show this in one of the videos.

How can we be sure there is no bypass path at the check valve through the threads under the the washers?
@minovation
@minovation 5 ай бұрын
That is not something to worry about. The threads experience high pressure during the water hammer, which is relatively short time. If you stop the pump operation, then the pressure against the threads would be from the head pressure in the drive pipe. In my case it is about 8ft of water elevation = 3.4psi ... water does not come out through the rod or the custom check valve.

Nice video and presentation. Do we have access to stainless threaded rod?
@minovation
@minovation 5 ай бұрын
Yes, stainless steel rod is generally readily available, but may cost a bit more than zinc plated or galvanized. I had one laying around so I used what I had.

2 1/2" x 1 1/4 or 3" x 1 1/4 is much better for a waste valve than 2"x 1 1/4".

It is better, but you would need a lot more $$$ to do the same thing. The cost on components greater than 2 inches does up in price exponentially.

1 1/4" outlet is big for 2x1 1/4 bushing reducer. It is better 2 1/2x 1 1/4 bushing reducer, rubber or disc will last longer.

It depends on the volume of water you are trying to pump... 2-1/2 fittings are much more $$ expensive than 2 inch... you could make the outlet 1 inch and reduce the brass check valve to 1-1/4, but then you would need 1-1/4 drive pipe and 5/8 delivery pipe... this will make a 1-1/4 pump and I have here 1-1/2 pump. :) I'm using tire rubber now and it has no problems at all... it's the silicone stuff that is not good on impact application.

Drive pipe vertical height please
@minovation
@minovation 11 ай бұрын
The drive pipe is about 90 feet long with about 8 feet vertical drop. The last 10 feet of it is galvanized steel to reduce expansion during water impact from the hydraulic ram.

@@minovationThat's awesome! Have you compared the replacement seal vs hard leather Bohumir uses? I believe he used two layers. Planning on building one but I wish I had your welding skills and/or machinist friends 😅

The pump lifts the water about 90 feet vertical and about 1/5 of the water makes it up hill... about 80% is waste.
