You don't need to warm the lids anymore. Just wash in soapy water and rinse. This video is 10 years old.

This is really only a problem in the states. The rest of the world has common sense, we made it illegal to serve anything under 160-165. The amount of people that don’t understand how dangerous it is in the USA is mind boggling. Whenever I’m in a restaurant there, it’s so jarring hearing them ask me how I want the burger that I always reply rudely with “cooked” and they genuinely don’t know what I mean…

This is absolute nonsense. Ive eaten THOUSANDS of RARE burgers. Not one time did i get "sick"....maybe had minor digestive disturbances, but those are 100% negligible.

This is misleading and not science. You cannot "cook out" a lot of bacteria and toxins. Staph cannot be cooked out. Meat is deadly at that point. Clostridium perfringens will die, but will produces spores that can survive heat and gestate in the body later. Most food poisoning comes from the toppings, that cannot be cooked. Lettuce and such. 150 is adequate. As there needs to be several conditions met. 1. Double Blind. He is biasing the result by knowing which one is which.2. There needs to be at least two thermometers in case one isn't functioning properly. 3. He needs to TELL us what colonies are present on the dishes. This all harkens back to the scare tactics media used when Jack in the Box killed someone with E.Coli. E.Coli dies at 114 F. Lastly, there were two microbe colonies on both of the dishes. 99% of food borne illness comes from improper handling of foodstuffs, rarely from cooking it. For instance, someone with the flu or hepatitis serving your meal. Uncooked foods are the leading cause of death in the USA, like tree nuts, vegetables, and ice creams. You might as well worry about Mad Cow disease, which cannot be cooked out at any temperature.

I should have died many times if you were right. I've had pink burgers many times and never even got sick. You can blanch meat before freshly grinding it to avoid contamination. You can also cook it sous vide. Or use a really clean source of meat which has very little bacteria. Also my stomach is not an agar plate, so this experiment is seriously flawed. I've also tasted cake batter my entire life. It has raw eggs in it. Never got sick from that. If I was very old, very young, pregnant or immunocompromised I wouldn't take those risks obviously.

Okay yeah sure, it's typically unsafe. Though if your immune system is built different, you can get away with medium rare. Or even rare if you want a challenge, haha.

Is China and Russia working together to kill or deplete our American supply of bio fuel? Is the Ohio train derailment perhaps a sign of things to come as China purchases more of our American properties?

Hello, I am very new to pressure canning, I have a Presto 23 quart and have to use a portable induction hot plate, I have done the water bath test twice, both times I was unable to see steam, but, when the lid lock popped up, within seconds I could hear the steam coming from the vent, I have been told the lid lock should not come up at that time, it happened both times, can you please give me some guidance ( I was told, if the lid lock pops up before venting I have the hot plate too hot, and I could boil my canner dry, I tried it at a lower heat and nothing happened until 22 minutes in and I put the heat up, the lid lock popped up straight away)

Ridiculous. I have been eating my burgers rare since I was a kid. Im 58 now and dont remember ever getting sick. I figure whatever bacteria survive cooking die when they reach my stomach acids. My cousin used to eat uncooked hamburger all the time and he was just fine. Thumbs down to this video. Over cooking meat causes cancer BTW.
