I didn't just find this video, I have carried mine for about 8-10 years, bought it at a flea market for $10 no case, handle is still tight and blade too, snaps out fast and love the feel! Best knife I ever had! If I need a quick edge I can roll down my truck window and tune it up real quick, sometimes soft metal is faster to sharpen.

They have aftermarket scales you can buy without the speed holes, or they may have a version without the speed holes.

Nice review. I came here because I was looking for a review on this knife. Love the enthusiasm but your paper cutting needs work. Try coming in along the edge of the paper at a low angle like you're trying to slice ribbons. The thinner you can slice the ribbons the sharper it is.👍 Works great for me.

Heat the top of this kydex sheath closely with a hot blow dryer, and squeeze the sides a bit till you get a nice click in with the knife! Repeat till you’re satisfied with it. This knife looks bulletproof, DC53 is a great steel 👍

Lots of cheaper ones same design, if they could just get the clip right on the cheaper versions. Im not sure but i think there are better replacement clips for better retention.

My every day jobsite carry. I've been beating it up for 8months now.. cardboard, web straps, cement bags, scoring drywall, etc. I haven't been kind, and aside from a few swipes on the bottom of my coffee mug(quick hone), it's had zero maintenance- and given me zero problems aside from the drywall took the black coating off. They're going to make good stocking stuffers this year🎉

I don't think this is PVD coated guys... I have a ton of PVD coated blades - this is different. I really think that it's some kind of DLC or maybe titanium coating that''s been stonewashed. I have cut all kinds of things with mine and after wiping down, it looks new - not a property that PVD exhibits.
@AverageGearReview
@AverageGearReview Ай бұрын
It is super tough, I have to check again and see if it's PVD or DLC, although I highly doubt it's DLC at this price point...
@HtownDooDooBrown
@HtownDooDooBrown Ай бұрын
@@AverageGearReview Same, but it doesn't behave like any PVD that I've ever used. It reminds me of the old Benchmade BK coating (before they switched to BT) back in the day. Same matte black too... PVD could technically be a number of coatings as it refers to the process rather than an actual coating (particle vapor deposition). My Kizer LP is supposed to be coated with "blackened titanium and stonewashed" - and looks almost exactly like the blade on the Columba.
@AverageGearReview
@AverageGearReview Ай бұрын
@@HtownDooDooBrown That's what I was thinking as well. They're using something different in the coating or coating process

You should be able to identify D2 because tool steel has unmistakable lines going through it that run very close together. If you have any higher end ratchet wrenches that aren’t polished you will notice this very easily. From the looks of this knife it’s polished to hide the possibility of telling one way or another but that’s just something I wanted to pass along from having D2 knives in the past.

I carry mine daily. Love it. I modified the sheath so it will clip to by belt or belt loop. I also forgot with it often, I have "opened and closed" is thousands of times. Would be better if it locked straight like the cobratec. This was given to me as a gift. He could not get past the clunky leather holster, I am ok with it.

The sheath is the worst part of this knife IMO, and I wish there was a Kydex option out there that would allow open or folded carry. The knife itself is great though!

I have a similar knife from the same company. It's inspired by but not the same as the Esse CR2.5 bird and trout knife. It's also DC 53 and has the same style sheath. It's a good quality little knife that I've been using to process small game birds. Works great for the task I bought it for at a fraction of the price of the big name brands. I might get this knife too, it looks good. But I really don't need more knives or maybe I do. 😀

Dc53 is a near analog to Sleipner, which is often compared to d2, but is really more similar to a2. Also it's not "diecast" it's a die steel, like d2.

The knife don't have a name. Dc53 is the steel they use on a lot of their knives. It is a copy of a custom knife, but can't remember the maker. The handle is really heavy. I took the scales off and took some metal out the tang to help with balance.

Wouldn't carry anything besides my Karahawk for 10+ years but have expanded my collection. I own or have owned just about every production waved k-bit ever made. I also highly recommend the Fox/Bastinelli Blackbird (a truly sexy knife), and believe it or not - the Boker Hel! Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. Literally the only Boker that has passed through my hands that I love... love it so much that I bought two versions. EDITED TO ADD: The best deal possibly ever for a waved k-bit is the Kubey Mini-Wrath - the Wrath is just too big. I picked mine up from CKW for $36 on sale - amazing!!!
