The April 3 1974 of my generation. Nobody knew the morning would produce numerous F2/F3 Tornadoes within the squall line. This event if anything overperformed.

7:50 it’s almost like the f’n tornando said “oop missed it” and went back to take down the tower. Unreal

This is unbelievably terrifying. However, it is hard to compare any tornado ever to Hackleberg, save Tri-State, Xenia, Bridge Creek, El Reno, and the closest, Smithville. Even with those, I believe Hackleberg is the worst and strongest tornado in recorded world history. Some of the things it did are physically impossible unless winds are well into the 300 mph+ range.

This was a bad day for us. I live in Bessemer, AL and it barely missed us hitting Pleasant Grove.

I remember the Masters being early and Tiger Woods winning that day. It was probably early because of this storm.

FAO:- Mr Spann - you didn't fail, you were victim to a system that was being ripped apart as the day went on. Yes, people died, but they are easy to count - they don't wander off, go to hotels, stay over at friends places, etcetera. Counting the Dead is easy. Counting those that survived due to YOUR WARNINGS is much harder. Just remember, many, MANY more were saved by your efforts to get the word out, than were taken by the Storms...

The worst thing about this day is he knew some storms would come through in the morning time but no one expected all them tornadoes and bad storms to take the electric out and sirens away from them the rest of the day. No one could get warnings that’s why so many died. A truly horrific nightmare of an event. The circumstances couldn’t have been any worse and I hope this never happens to us.

When the Tornado 🌪 Index normally goes to a 10 and it reads 15.3 you know it’s an extremely bad day! James and Jason have NEVER seen an index this high!!! OFF THE CHARTS TERRIFYING😵💫😵💫😵💫😳😳😳🤐🤐🤐😵😵😵🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪

I definitely pay strong attention to the Tornado 🌪 Hatch percentage! 10% and above means very good chance to see a Tornado 🌪!

For me now... when they are tracking those storms for some distance and I see I'm located close to the path. I'll jump in my car and haul ass on I65 north or south depending what I think is the best direction. I'm not sitting in my house waiting for a freight train to hit me. Now, you can watch James on my Iphone as I'm driving doing 90. Kinda of funny, but I know it's not. **One time I drove around I459 to Trussville, then I realized "You dumb ass, the possible tornado is going the same angle and direction I was driving" .. now THAT was only funny afterwards. SORRY.. if I can help it.. I'm not going to be some "sitting Duck"
