You do not have to use your finger, for those who think this is a must. It is not a MUST. You don’t even have to add the paint. However, fingers are great tools and the paint in the dough is better if children are making the ornaments, less messy.

I have one question.Do you dont put the oven for drying?
@jodeelunaart8 ай бұрын
I do put it in the oven at 170 degrees. It takes hours to dry on one side and then turn over and bake until it’s firm.

Varnish when cooled after baking? Any particular type? One coat? Love the Santa. And thank you for such a thorough tutorial. Now I have to buy another garlic press. I donated mine a few weeks ago.

You're most welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, make sure it's cool before you varnish. I like Dresden Clear Glaze, but any craft varnish would work. I like to spray another coat of varnish after the first one dries. Have you seen my Salt Dough Art Sculpture Playlist? I have lots of fun holiday ornament videos.

Hi Tina, the ratio is 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 1 cup of water but add the water slowly to make sure you get the consistency of play dough. Have fun!
