They need guys like you teaching in high schools. Lots of youngens hurt themselves early on and it wrecks their confidence moving forward. Great lesson.

Wow, I’ve only been practicing for about a year and I can already out scream the shit out of you. But I’ve also been a singer for 30 years. Actually watching this just made me so happy because I know I don’t totally suck ass now. I can do all of that shit with ease man. I’ve just been copying this artist named Kim Dracula. And listening to his chaotic screams has taught me some other cool techniques too ;)

I really love that you take so much time and effort into answering questions in the comments! I just startet taking singing lessons but as a metalhead im very interested in learning metal vocals one day and im currently starting to softly implement some fry screaming practice - really enjoying it and your videos help a lot! Thanks for that

I’ve been practicing metal screams for the past few days and I have been getting somewhat good. However, I got sick and I just recovered so my throat feels like shit after practicing screaming for hours daily. It feels dry, tingly, kinda itchy and stuffy. I should probably take a week off from vocals. This video has a lot of great advice, thank you :)

how loud should my fry screams be? I'm so confused by all the contrary opinions, some people are saying it HAS TO BE LOUD otherwise you're doing it wrong and are going to hurt yourself, while others are saying it's quiet and has to be built up over time. thank you so much for everything you do on this platform, you're my main source for learning this kind of thing
@ExtremeVocalInstitute
@ExtremeVocalInstitute Күн бұрын
I generally say it should be just over or just under your speaking voice depending on how distorted you’re going. It’ll differ depending on the person and how loud they are in general - for example I tend to talk very loudly but if you’re a quieter person you’re going to experience different things. Here’s a video to help you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpTbgWSdqZ2FrpIfeature=shared
@TheMookie1590

not super loud just a bit over talking volume. people think because the word scream is in it then you have toi be loud. fry screams is simply lose vocal chords with proper air compression. the mic is where the volume comes from. remember push your fart muscles and if it tickles stop.

@ExtremeVocalInstitute

The key to performing these kinds of vocals safely is balance. We have tons of videos on this channel to help you find your scream in a healthy, balanced way. Here's a good place to start: kzbin.info/aero/PLpztTMU7owffHgpdyzCBbWCaJV-Wrv2db&feature=shared

@@underinfluence9001 it’s not that obvious to a lot of people and there are still a lot of people on the internet who claim you do have to essentially destroy your voice in order to do it right. We try to keep things positive on this channel and we don’t shame people for not knowing something 😊

@@ExtremeVocalInstitute Okay maybe I was being a bit of a dick. But Wow, from the man himself. I didnt know people do such claims on the internet. Ever since I started I just knew it wouldnt have to hurt to get it working. Basing my voice off Chris Motionless, I Eventually found it after watching your channel more and more. Thank you.

@@underinfluence9001 boomers out there are still saying this garbage that it destroys your voice. if it did no one would do it. you know youre doing good when you can false chord and fry scream. but also switch to opera and sing gently.and hit whistle tones like me.if it caused damage itd never be able to let out those whistle notes after screaming

@ExtremeVocalInstitute
@ExtremeVocalInstitute Күн бұрын
If balanced appropriately you can transition from this to singing just fine. It’s when you use too much force or air that this becomes harmful to the vocal tract, especially over time

Great to see another video! Love doing the alphabet and catch and release type of exercises to feel out the pressure and shape I need. It gets better over time! Love the advice about feeling the vibration and focusing it without pushing. It feels like lightening up makes the voice come through more.
@ExtremeVocalInstitute
@ExtremeVocalInstitute Күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! The alphabet-type exercises can feel so silly but removing these types of vocals from the context of songs can do so much for taking the implied pressure off of how people expect the vocals should sound!

There's definitely something to be said about the raw authenticity and I don't discourage my clients and students from tapping into that but in order to replicate these vocals night in and night out without wrecking yourself having a good foundation is important. That way you can safely push the boundaries when you need to but also know how to back off

why your fries sound like false chord high scream?
@ExtremeVocalInstitute
@ExtremeVocalInstitute Күн бұрын
Depends on the person doing them. Someone with a higher voice who is smaller than me doing false cord highs may sound similar to my fry screams purely because our anatomy is different. Could also be that you're used to hearing hyper compressed fry screams!

As a drummer I dont work so much with scales, chords, etc the way a guitarist or pianist would but I do sing in my band so Im trying to learn theory as an intermediate singer. I want to take a classical or musical theory approach to heavy vocals the same way you would clean vocals. I can sing/ scream all the stuff I want to for the most part and am ready for the next step. I feel like I've gotten as far as I can on my own by singing to records and now I need to start paying for courses and lessons to truly understand the science and technique. My bassist is a Berklee trained singer and as a three piece band we all sing. So I find it a blessing working with him and have already learned a lot. I'd like to some what start getting on his level in terms of knowledge and technique about the human voice. If you could make practice videos with piano the way Jeff Rolka on KZbin does so you can follow that would be killer!
