This is giving similar functional vibes to whisper screaming for composition ideas and the idea of changing phonemes to be more or less natural or a certain way - there's a certain work to our natural speech that is quite magical when used in music especially something such spiking power like death metal.

I also am a big fan of using mantras to open the throat for death metal. There's a few that have worked well for me but I believe people should make their own.

So how do I get those same sounds without teeth? Since having them extracted I can do gutturals pretty well but nothing else. Am I doomed to get my dentures?
@ExtremeVocalInstitute2 күн бұрын
That would make sense since gutturals aren’t dependent on your ability to annunciate in the same way as more open screams can be since the mouth tends to be more closed off while performing them. You may not be “doomed” but you’d definitely have to experiment a lot more to find what works for you and understand that your sound will vary but that doesn’t mean it can’t be cool and unique!

@@ExtremeVocalInstitute many thanks for the answer. I'm kind of excited to experiment now 🤗

I have a challenge for your "how to scream like X" shorts. There's a Japanese metal band called "Imperial Circus Dead Decadence" and the lead singer, Rib:y(uhki), REALLY likes fry-overtone-screams. It exists in many of their songs, but he especially like to do them in live concerts (where you can hear the unfiltered sounds). Some examples in their official releases are at the beginning of "謳" (Uta) and "獄" (Goku) as well as at the 2:35 mark of Goku, and at the 3:46 mark of "神罰を辿り狂骨に至る" (Shimbatsu Wo Tadori Kyokotsu Ni Itaru), but I doubt you can hear this one without headphones (even though it's the most impressive one in my opinion). The really amazing part about this, is that when you listen to live concerts you realize that in their official releases they actually fade the screams, and that they are so much more sharp in real life. I've never seen anyone scream like that. Hope you give it a shot!

Its been bothering me for quite some time now idk, I've watched really old videos of my band live and my vocals are there. Then recently I got comments that they could barely hear my vocals and most recent videos they're wuite "inaudible". I doubt its a mixing issue or whatnot, I felt like I lost my touch I started looking for answers like how many decibels is a proper low death growl without a mic 🤣. For context, I do vocals on guitar and yeah I'm always close to kissing the mic.

First this dudes fucking amazing legitimately like I've never tried to scream before I've only been like seriously attempting to sing for the last 6 months or so thank God for therapy lmao but I learned very quickly that I have a very large vocal range however I was unsure how difficult it would be for me to learn screaming but this dude's incredible like breaks it down so simply but Direct which frankly I am so grateful for because I am quite autistic. However I have a question when he Taps his nose and then says send with the 👃 what does that mean exactly does that mean you breathe out through your nose as well as when you exhale through the mouth? I watched this like 10 times in a row and then started and I think I'm mostly got it down but I think I'm doing something wrong and I'm not sure if it's my breathing or something else

The “do less” part really makes a difference for gutturals. It’s amazing how much you can feel the difference once you do a good one.
