For your viewers, on these polaris fanners, very important to pull the fan shround off the top of the motor. just a few bolts. often times (like every off season) mice will make a nest in here. it reduces fan efficiency and can overheat and ruin the engine.
@smallenginerescue2 күн бұрын
Yeah that's a good point. Mice love building nests under engine covers.

do you remove the emulsion tubes? I never have but always wonder if its necessary.
@smallenginerescue2 күн бұрын
No I usually don't. If they are really filthy I have removed them but most of the time it's not necessary.

Hey I'm runing into an issue with the fuel pump where it hits the bottom of the engine when I try to pull it off the studs. Do you have a trick for getting it off without having to lift the engine to make room?
@smallenginerescue18 күн бұрын
I think you can tap the studs down they should just be held by small retainers but you do risk them falling out and they can be hard to get back in. But it is possible if you can get your arm underneath between the track and the tunnel.

If you heat it till it’s glowing, then dump cold water on it; it will come right out.

I don’t know what one of these in really good shape is worth, but you be way better off buying one of these than the junk they sell nowadays.

Well I'm sorry to tell you this but I think you are wrong. I have 2 455 ranchers. 1 is 10 years old. Last summer I had to replace the carb. The other 1 is 5 years old no trouble at all. I can't agree with your more of a homeowner saw. We cut a lot of wood every year. It not a xp 395. They are great saws

I really enjoyed watching your video you seem to be pretty knowledgeable. and taking your time and explaining as you go. I've got a question hopefully you have a solution to my problem. I have a John Deere 214 and I have trouble starting it it turns over but it takes quite a few tries before it will start.
@smallenginerescue2 ай бұрын
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊. It could be a few different things. Once it starts if you have to leave the choke on for a long time it could be fuel related (carb needs cleaning or fuel pump needs replacing etc.) otherwise it could be as simple as a spark plug or if it has points still they may need to be cleaned and adjusted.

For a Kawasaki it has been running very rich. In my experience I can see the insulator on Kawasaki's and Honda's.

One of the pulleys is undersized or near the minimum limit for that drive belt. I don't see delamination I see compression blow out. Something like a Gates XL belt addresses that issue. A high durometer belt exacerbates the problem. 1/2" belt you want a 5" or greater diameter pulley. Guess we will find out if the Aramid makes a difference. It should have better heat resistance so I expect an improvement.
