When an oriental chap on two wheels gives you advice, heed it! The fact that you had a KTM in the back gave further credence to your post. Found the same screwdriver extension from my draper multi-bit set and a 10mm 1/4" socket. X2 bearing hardware removed, ready to install onto my Bomber CR! Top stuff - saved me £135. Do I care if its tolerances are slightly off? Nah!

Hi you can make a neoprene headset protector for the bottom cup from a neoprene laptop case and Velcro lizard skins make them but I think they only do for standard sized headsets.

Thank you. I am having problems with a Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro e-Bike headset and this answers the question of why I cannot stop the play and the consequential knock that accompanies it over rough ground. So well explained, it’s really great to see you get to the bottom of the issue.

I replied on your other comment, but in case you don’t see it, I can confirm the Cane Creek ZS56 /ZS56 headset is perfect. It feels so much better. It’s solid now, and the bearings are spinning nicely. I matched it with a Funn Equalizer 50mm stem, as I liked the reach on the original, but it was a little too long. It looks and feels much better now.

Hey mate, I’ve got a similar issue with my Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro (Mine is Acros though). My head tube is the same as the Stereo, but my bearings are a ZS44 Top (with a plastic spacer to make it 56), and a ZS56 bottom. I’m upgrading it because the bearings are rusted and gritty, so should I just grab a Cane Creek ZS56 to ZS56? It will fit the 56/56 head tube like yours right?

Hi, I’ve ordered a new headset from superstar components for the exact model and make of your bike. The top bearing I’ve been sent doesn’t fit over my fork tube. Wondered if you had the same issue or if you recalled the number and top cup bearing size? Mine is about .6 mm to small in diameter. Thanks

Good hack for this, but if you're going to do it very often I would just get the tools from fox, it's much easier.

With the Fox tools you still have to bash them out just the same - but with £150 worth of metal instead.

Under my top cap in Actioneteam 140 from 2020, there were 2 pieces of FSA Micro-Spacer for Micro-Integrated Headset by default, which ensures proper pressure of this plastic ring to the bearing - I don't see anything like that under the top cap in your video. Can these bearings be replaced with, for example, crane creek? They have the same angles but are 1mm lower? Has anyone tried something like this?

Thanks. Are you sure it’s the same problem? The cube website suggests it has an Acros headset in there which I’m sure comes with sealed bearings and also Not the plastic wedge. It does look the same size of headset though. archiv.cube.eu/en/2022/536152

On the sealed bearings, you can service them if you want. You’ll need a dental pick or an exacto knife to pop the seals out, working on the stationary area of the seal that’s against the outer race. Practice on s9me old seals first if you have any and need the confidence. Once you have the seals off you wish wash them clean using an old toothbrush and some Dawn dish detergent. Dry them and pack with Phil woods hydrophobic grease and pop the seals back on and you’re good to go.

I think its good to know that this same headset purchased aftermarket comes with proper quality sealed bearings etc. but in a situation like this the OEM manufacturer ordered these headsets with these cheaper components to keep costs down and is not indicative of FSA products.

3d print file please. My 1 month old Cube has just began to creak....can you load to thingyverse or similar? Thanks in advance.
@obscurazone2 жыл бұрын
It is most likely that you simply need to tighten up the top bolt / steering nut, and also need to re-grease the bearings. The file he is printing is a very extreme fix, for a semi integrated headset. Getting those pre fitted cups out of the frame is difficult, and if you do it will also void the warranty. I absolutely would not recommend doing it. If you grease the bearings and tighten everything up, but find it still creaks, take it to a Cube dealership. It is only one month old so it is covered for everything that requires any major repair or replacement.

A very old traditional route (along with gypsy Glen) that was in use long before the Seven Staines was even thought off. The three Brethern route. Normally done as a loop with Caddon Bank at the end. This route has been ridden by riders on manual bikes for years so not just for ebikes. Having rode this on an ebike recently it does show a lack of use compared to a few years back probably as it is considered old school nowadays. I can't say I have heard of many people returning the same way you came.
