I haven't seen this since it first aired. I happened to be in England at the time; I turned on the TV and this was playing. Incredibly good timing.

What does Nicky say/get annoyed at right at the start?. I love that he loves Rush too.
@turnleftaticeland2 жыл бұрын
My best guess: “This is truly fucking nuts[?]” “[?]” [no clue lol] “I can fucking hear it!” “Excuse me!” “What do you fucking think?” “[?]” [sort of sounds like “Carry on, Nicholas” but idk] “I came in and I said, ‘So, when do you- do you wanna do a couple of photos[?], Sean?’ He was talking to Steve. [imitating either Sean or Steve*] ‘Won’t be- won’t be _that_ big of an event, I don’t know why we’re fuckin’ bothering! What fuckin’ point? Not a _real_ release.’ [laughs]” *I figure it’s Steve because a) why would Sean say that and b) Nicky makes fun of Steve’s lack of enthusiasm several other times in this doc

the orchestral quartets ruined this album I think.. they should have kept it raw rocking and real.
@shawsmith55214 жыл бұрын
@Richard Benn yes in its place, brass and so on dont in any way compare to the absolute strength of the holy bible without the unnecessary fluff of boring old folks home music in the background.. It isnt exactly chopin or bach or beethoven, and they have been trying to make it work aince 97 when the main reason everything must go was so successful was on the back of the holy bible, but it wasnt even half as good because the accompanyment is pretty boring, and they lost the essense of what everyone was growing to love.. Except for a few singles tracks its really been getting stale unfortunately imho.

Marlon JD song Nicky > James
@lukasdonald16393 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Nicky's version wouldn't have translated onto the record. James realized the potential and power in it. The way it is on the record is how it should be. I see it as a great collaboration.

@karenleroux65007 жыл бұрын
interesting recording, usually dead rooms, if you want the room to open need some curved wooden panels give it some bounce, in a dead room you can then signal process etc, filter the voices, the manics are using very basic recording basically live recorindings

Am I the only one who finds it awkward at 2:25 when james says "dave...can we just talk please..." :/
@danshaggy2928 жыл бұрын
Pedantic, but I think James is saying "Dave, can we just talk first?", because Eringa sounded like he was giving feedback to the string players straight away.
@irollastoney.8997 жыл бұрын
+Mila Ash Yeah, that seemed a little rude.
@DarlingPhenylethylamine7 жыл бұрын
Was it that Eringa was talking loudly and James wanted to keep the volume at a lower level... maybe he had a headache or something. Could be something as simple as that. Why are you each jumping to a conclusion that he was being rude?
@danshaggy2927 жыл бұрын
Darling Phenylethylamine I never suggested he was rude - quite the opposite, in fact. I thought JDB was politely asking if they could talk about the music before offering feedback/listening back/asking to play it again. We're all just guessing - you could be right, I could be right. We'll never know.
@DarlingPhenylethylamine7 жыл бұрын
I know. That's true, you didn't suggest that he was being rude.
