ATC is one of those must-haves once you experience working with it, as well as the touch off tool being built-in. The automatic touch off routine for the whole rack is a nice addition. Does this control software support any kind of cutter comp at the control level?

I'm looking forward to see one in person. The accuracy potential and power of motion is well and good, but I'd be curious to see how the machine's rigidity works out for roughing materials like aluminum and then the surface finishes accomplished with good tools on cleanup passes. Hope there's a video that showcases that capability.

Ever consider a 4x10’ model? Or is that not possible with ball screws? I flatten a lot of 10’ slabs and need 10’ minimum.
@StepcraftInc25 күн бұрын
Hi, I will take your comments to our engineering team for future consideration. Thank you!. One thing that many of our customers do take advantage of, is the fact that our machines offer a pass-trough in the Y direction. This means you can use the Q.408 to flatten a slab longer than 8 feet by running it and then sliding the material back in the machine and running the remainder. You will find that detecting where the overlap is located is nearly impossible to locate. When you get into the longer machines the price goes up significantly. This is one option to do what you need with our standard machine.
@HybridWoodworks24 күн бұрын
@ Thanks for the reply. I’m familiar with the pass through approach. But from a production standpoint, I’d like to just set it and forget it. I’ll keep my eye out for a 10’ model in the next few years. I have enough tools to keep me busy for now, so I can wait. Keep up the good work. You guys make some innovative stuff.

The dimensions of the head is 40mm diameter .Uccnc makes the job, the rotation of the blade is integrated in the runtime of the gcode by uccnc.

yes but no information about wiring, i have axbb-e from cncdrive. I ask to the support stepcraft for help but no help because it's not a controller from stepcraft. It's plug and play for their machine only and other controller, they don't care at all

Looks good but looks like a lot of work! Do you know how many hours you have in it? I'm guessing from beginning to install at leastfour4 8 hour days... What would you charge for something like that? i would probably be close to 4g which seems like a lot for that but the amount of time i feel i would put into that it just wouldn't be worth it for less than about $3800 to $4200. We don't do electrical but i would like to venture into that type of thing but honestly I'm so busy all the time I would never have time to do a project like that without falling behind on pretty much everything else...

I am not in the market for a CNC router of any brand. My age is the only reason... I would have leapt at it 40+ years ago, it is a very appealing technology. Congratulations on your machine and video, which is very compelling... with one exception: Six months ago @markmoulin41 asked a question in the comments regarding cutting fabrics. Nobody from Stepcraft Inc took a moment to reply... bad Karma. KZbin is a fantastic facility BECAUSE it is interactive... if you choose not to interact, you risk giving the wrong impression. Liked and Subscribed.

Amazing video. Thank you, it help a lot... But PLEASE, can you fix your websites? There are to many. USA, Europa, Spain, Germany, SHOP sites are ALL different, with different accessories, different machines (No more Q series, No more Black something, and now Ultimate thing of machine), you can't select accessories by the model of the machine like the old websites, etc, etc... is a real MESS. Old website was a LOT better. Thank You and Keep Up! 😌👍

Do you know if there is a way to use the touch prob to indicate material in if its not square on the machine? For example if you placed that material on the table at a slight angle, could you touch down the side of the material with the touch prob to indicate its postion and still machine all your holes in the correct location?
@hrmny_2 ай бұрын
You can tell UCCNC (and many others) to measure the angle between 2 points, which is pretty much what you want

Very informative. A BIG thanks! Stupid question. Using VCarve Pro. In the "toolpaths material setup" would the home/start position be the thickness of your material plus a safe Z gap? I use .8" as a safe Z-Gap from the material surface. So the Z-Gap would remain at .8" but the home/start would go to 1.8" from the machine bed if the material was 1" thick. Am I thinking correctly?

Turns out that "conventional" really is the magic word here. Just tested it with some 3€ Aliexpress single flute (for alu / plastic milling) and it works just dandy in some PE cell foam (the white stuff you often get in electronics packages). It also helps to crank the travel rate way up and plunge deep - otherwise the foam will be displaced rather than cut. For my 500W 3018 it was 1400mm/s X/Y, 800mm/s Z and 12000 spindle and going in 10mm at one time.
