Used to sing this in middleschool chorus with Mr. Roberts. In retrospect, what a great man to have know to have had us singing such amazing songs of Americana.

Did you ever see a wild goose Sailin' o'er the ocean Ranzo, Ranzo, weigh, heigh They're just like them pretty girls When they gets the notion Ranzo, Ranzo, weigh, heigh The other mornin' I was walkin' by the river When I saw a young girl walkin' With her topsails all a-quiver I said pretty fair maid And how are you this mornin'? She said "None the better for the seeing of you." Did you ever see a wild goose Sailin' o'er the ocean They're just like them pretty girls When they gets the notion

I was the captain of a steel Barque for five years. The day I had to take her to the yard for the last time, I knew it was the end of an era for me. As the crew and I walked away that day, I was humming this song.

1.25 speed - old men belting out a jaunty tune, sober as a sword. 1.00 speed - old men singing tunes of their youth, a little melancholic. .75 speed - old men have now had a few drinks. .50 speed - of the 13 old men in the reunion, 3 are still conscious, but only barely. .25 speed - only one left not passed out, but he's fading FAST.

I wish folkies would acknowledge Louisa's female gender and transgender status. I can't think of a worse insult than refusing to acknowledge someone the way they wanted to be remembered after their death. She was a wonderful woman.

oh the work was hard and the wages low. Leave her Johnny, Leave her. I guess its time for us to go and its time for us to leave her. Leave her Johnny leave her, oh leave her Johnny, leave her. For the voyage is long and the winds don't blow and its time for us to leave her. Oh I thought I heard the old man say, Leave her Johnny, leave her. Oh tomorrow you will get your pay and its time for us to leave her, Leave her Johnny, leave her, oh, Leave her Johnny, leave her, for the voyage is long and the winds don't blow and it's time for us to leave her. The winds blew foul and the seas ran high. Leave her Johnny, leave her. We shipped up green and none went by and its time for us to leave her, leave her Johnny, leave her. Oh the voyage is done and the wind don't blow and its time for us to leave her. The Knight was a Bucko and the man was a turd. leave her Johnny, leave her. and the****was a begger with a middle name of work and its time for us to leave her. Leave her Johnny, leave her, oh, leave her Johnny, leave her. Oh the voyage is done and the winds don't blow and it's time for us to leave her. The old man swears and the mate swears too, leave her Johnny leave her. The cree will swear and so will you and its time for us to leave her, leave her Johnny, leave her, oh, leave her Johnny, leave her. Oh the voyage is done and the winds don't blow and its time for us to leave her.

As I went out one morning to take the pleasant air, Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. As I went out one morning to take the pleasant air, I overheard a mother a-scolding her daughter fair, Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "You better go wash them dishes, and hush that flattering tongue." Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "You better go wash them dishes, and hush that flattering tongue. You know you want to get married and that you are too young." Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "Oh, pity my condition just as you would your own." Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "Oh, pity my condition just as you would your own. For fourteen long years, I've been living all alone." Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "Supposing I was willing, where would you get your man?" Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "Supposing I was willing, where would you get your man?" "Why, Lordy, mercy! Mammy, I'd marry Handsome Sam." Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "Supposing he should slight you like you done him before?" Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "Supposing he should slight you like you done him before?" "Why, Lordy, mercy! Mama, I'd marry forty more." Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "There's doctors and lawyers and boys from the plow." Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "There's doctors and lawyers and boys from the plow." "Why, Lordy, mercy! Mammy, the fit comes on me now." Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "Now, my daughter's married and well for to do." Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day. "Now, my daughter's married and well for to do." "Come gather 'round, young fellers! I'm on the market, too!" Lolly too dum, too dum, Lolly too dum day.

My grandpa was a fan because Ives did a couple songs his mother used to sing to him. There are three albums in particular I remember listening to at grandpa's house. My wife only knows him for "Rudolph" and "have a Holly jolly Christmas" but this stirs up some powerful emotions for me
