@@NicolasPacha-ug6li I didn’t mess with any wiring as I ran the car off the stock wiring. I always take battery terminals off and only unplugged the wires in the back of the car as well as the headlights and impact sensors up front and if there’s one in the rear. I periodically put terminals back on as I go to make sure I didn’t unplug anything that the car needs to run. Unplug air bags as well especially if you’re running stock fuel cell as they will kill fuel pull is my understanding if they are triggered. Always to that with no power to car or you can set them off as you remove them. I also ran the stock fuel cell on my derby tank. Those wires run through the car to the back. Don’t cut wires! I did that first time and killed my fuel pump then blew a fuse as I cut other wires. Just unplug stuff and secure it in car behind drivers seat. Didn’t need to bypass security or anything to run it like I did

It looks like you guys have a great derby culture in your area; there's been good action in all these heats I've seen from this event. #9 may have been a little picky at the beginning, but he opened up by the midway point. #666 the torpedo here, 3 wheels or 4.

Real good heat; everybody showed up ready for a fight. Black #57 taking track shots all day long. Last time I was at a derby with a raffle car, it was a 76 Impala sedan with brand new truck tires. The guy who won it was already scheduled to drive his own car in the same heat, so he put a helmet on his gf and sent her out to break the stick at the word 'Go!'

Great story; sounds like you really worked for what you got. Looks like you came out with a good engine that you can sell to the junkyard, or maybe trade it towards your next car. Derbies in my area (MO/KAN line) usually ban spray foam because it's so flammable. Explain to me - if you have time - what you said about Cavalier bumpers. I thought you said they were illegal but guys were still using them? So I'm confused.

Stock classes for the promoters around here allow a stock bumper to be butt welded onto stock car. Caravan stock bumpers are super tough and don’t bend. Guys weld them on their stock cars and reuse them over and over. The cavaliers at this derby I believe 5 of 6 had a welded front bumper that lets them run at you with the front end. They pack a punch! 😬

You haven't seen 'really rusted' if you think a little cancer in the rocker panels is bad. When I was running full size in the 2000s, I saw guys driving cars with plywood over floorboards that were completely gone, or just driving them without front floor pans altogether. (far as I know, running without SOMEthing serving as a driver's floor is almost-universally outlawed now)

Atta boy! Yeah there’s a lot of ways to do it. I keep the wiring and fuel cell stock as it’s the easiest and quickest for me. Haven’t had any issues with stock cell and wiring as well. I know guys like to remove them and run their own so they’re not off the stock fuse box but I haven’t had issues with it. Good luck!

How this car is set up isn’t how I normally do it but I got it off a guy that derbies that already had started stripping it and had his tank hooked up already. He had a derby tank with a Camry fuel cell in it. The fuel line is running from fuel cell in derby tank to the top of the motor. The “air line” as it doesn’t have a return is just open off the tank. I typically run it stick (fresh car usually not a problem). Then on second run if it has one I’ll drop stock tank and remove fuel cell and put it into my derby tank. I have a tank that the stock fuel cell goes into then you bolt it down so you don’t have to change any other wiring. You can run off the stock wiring/fuse box. I’ll send picks tomorrow of how my buddy has it set up. Loaded up and heading to run it one more time right now 😁

I ran a cobalt back in September, and now it won't start. I've put new spark plugs and coil pack in in. It just cranks but no start. Is that what yours did in security mode? That is kind of the only other thing that I can think of because it won't even start on starting fluid.
