I have seen the sks with spring on firing pin slam fire. The rifle was gunked with cosmoline and spring was seized. So that tells me the spring doesn't do crap anyway.

Hey! Now I know I got a french tickler. I bought it brand new, looked like it's never been fired, no bayonet at the time. Now I've put about 200 rds threw it, and it's got a couple of dents and scratches. Gosh, dang it, lol. 😫 It's a very fun rifle. im glad i got it. I think I overpayed a bit, but I dont care. Very good video.

I own a beautiful Russian SKS.. a Chinese Type 56.. and a Norinco SKS-D.. and I plan to buy a "French Tickler" and "Jungle Stock" SKS in the next couple months or so to add to my collection since a retailer close to me still has quite a few of them in stock.. at a very good price ($479 each) When it comes to my SKS's.. personally I have always considered my Norinco SKS-D as my most prized and most rare SKS.. especially with the pre and post ban era stuff that went on and the fact that these D and M models seem to always be the most sought after.. not to mention that I have had offers as high as $2000 for my SKS-D (a price I could NEVER get for any of the other SKS's that I own) but I will never ever sell my SKS-D. I bought my SKS-D brand new and it came with 2 30rd mags back around 1990 and it is still in pristine condition today having only put less than 200 hundred rounds through it over the years.. it sits in the safe.. it gets cleaned and wiped down from time to time.. then back in the safe. Being young and foolish at the time when I bought it I made a big mistake by swapping out the ORIGINAL wood stock for a Combat Exchange folding stock and somehow over the years I lost the original wood stock for my SKS-D. (I still dont consider it a "Bubba" though) I have had many arguments with people (like Mishaco) regarding the SKS-D.. people who seem to discredit it's rarity and current market availability... and I have never really understood this.. and why they seem to put down the Norinco SKS-D and SKS-M models. I have always been searching for a Yugo.. but I have never ever come across one.. or a Romanian either.. and I would really like a 16" barrel variant like the Paratrooper in my collection - I had a chance to add an SKS-M with thumb hole stock to my collection years ago but felt the asking price was just too high for me (it was a private sale and they wanted $1200 for it.. it was in good original condition but it had quite I high round count put through it) Triangle 26.. your channel is simply outstanding!.. your detailed and informative video presentations are truly amazing!.. and you are a wealth of information and a fantastic source of knowledge for anyone wanting to know about history of the SKS pattern rifles. Keep up the great work Sir! *I Dreadnaught Tactical hereby do solemnly swear to never ever again permanently alter, modify, or "Bubba" an original SKS pattern rifle regardless of variant or condition for the rest of my natural life.* -

I have the PTR 9KT and have had it for the last 3 years and it is SBR'd set up as an MP5K-N. I believe I have somewhere around 2-2,500 rounds through it and I have had zero issues with it and it is the only clone I would buy next to an actual HK...which is still on my list. Supressed with an DeadAir Ghost and it is insanely good. If you can swing the cash for an HK, get an HK. If you dont want to spend double on an HK, get a PTR. Either way, it will become your favorite gun in your safe...or nightstand. ;)

My first purchased rifle was a Sks Paratrooper with a shortened spike bayonet. I purchased it in the late 1990s at a local pawnshop for $250.00 . It was a very fun rifle. It worked flawlessly with aftermarket higher capacity magazines. Russian surplus ammo was about 20 cents per round, without buying in bulk. I love your very well-informed videos! Thank you, Keep up the great work!

What do you think about the Military Arms Corporation MAC 5 MP5 clone? They say that it is FULLY compatible with the REAL HK MP5 internal parts and furniture. Also.. you didnt mention the most popular and most widely sold MP5 clone on the market - the GSG-16 - even though it is in .22lr.. it is still an MP5 clone.
@Triangle265 күн бұрын
The MAC 5 is new to the market, so I’ll withhold judgment until they’ve had the chance to prove themselves. That said, I am optimistic. The manufacturer (Mertsav) is a subcontractor of MKE, and obviously I hold MKE in high regard. As far as I can tell, Mertsav achieves its lower price by using a button rifled barrel rather than the CHF barrel used by MKE. That strikes me as no big deal either way. It’s also possible that Mertsav has negotiated a better import deal with SDS than MKE has with Century. Long story short, I wouldn’t be surprised if they match AP5 performance for a better price point. But time will tell. As for the 22lr clone, those are certainly cool, but intentionally left out of this video. As I mention at 12:02, “I am limiting this market analysis the 9mm offerings”.

I found an HK SP5 for $2300 + NO tax + 22.79 shipping/oversized handling fee/shipping insurance/signature fee. Vs an AP5 at $1139 + no tax + same shipping fees. I’m a lil torn, but I think I might just send it on the SP5. I get a better chance of having all the parts be made well and everything be in spec, and I get all the little incremental upgrades HK has made over the last 60 years. Plus I’ll get solid customer support even years from now. I still think the AP5 will likely be “just as good”, but the MP5 has been my grail gun since I was 5 years old, and I figure that an extra $1200 for a gun that I will likely keep the rest of my life is a fair deal. All it means is that I’ll need to alter my budget a lil bit for an extra 6-12 months to make up for the price difference. I can easily save $200 a month for 6-7 months Edit: And also wanted to add that I’ve been burned badly by trying to save money vs buying HK in the past. I’ve been around guns all my life, but the only handguns I shot were Glocks. I love Glocks, but I wanted to try new things, especially HK. My dream handgun was a USP compact or USP full size, both 9mm, but I got talked out of just buying the HK USP and then spent the next couple years and thousands of dollars trying other “cheaper handguns” before eventually getting fed up and buying the USP. I realized HK weapons really weren’t as expensive as people made them out to be, but they tend to last way longer with fewer issues. I got my USP compact in V7 Light LEM with HK X Meprolight tritium night sights and 3 mags for $950

Honestly, it does sound to me like the SP5 may be the better choice for you. Like I say in the video, there *are* good reasons to buy and SP5, and I think you check the most important box: Grail guns are a real thing. If the MP5 has been a lifetime grail gun for you, nothing is going to scratch that itch as well as a factory HK. Buying an SP5 for $2300 is one of the best deals on a Title 1 H&K MP5 that has ever been available, and if you don't jump on it, you may well regret it. I'd compare the AP5 vs SP5 conundrum to choosing between a Romanian WASR and a Russian SGL in 2010: The WASR's were much cheaper than the SGLs, yet in 95+ percent of cases, they were functionally equivalent. If someone bought a WASR because they wanted a rock solid AK for the best price available - they have no regrets. If someone bought an SGL because they wanted to check "own a Russian AK" off their bucket list - they have no regrets. If however, someone really wanted to own a Russian AK, but got talked into buying a WASR because it was a better value - they probably aren't too happy about that 15 years later.

@@Triangle26 Also, one other quick question. I'm going to be running a pretty long suppressor, like 7.5" (It's the CAT MOB/Alleycat 36, haven't decided yet). If i'm going to be running it suppressed pretty much 100% of the time, do you think the Full size Sp5 or the Sp5k-PDW would be a better setup for a long-ish suppressor like that? I love both of them, but I know that the SP5 is better in pretty much every way except for size. But with a suppressor, that changes things a lil bit. Does the extra length of the SP5 with a long suppressor like that pose problems for me? I.e. does the extra barrel length cause problems for me if I wanna run subsonic ammo? Will the extra barrel length + that long suppressor increase the velocity too much for most 147gr ammo?

@Triangle266 күн бұрын
Not many. I have a dedicated video on them in which I go into greater detail, but realistically the number is very small. About a dozen are publicly documented, which leads me to believe that the true number is most likely under 100. The way I describe it in my video is that however many there are in NA, they could probably be comfortably fit into the backseat of a Ford Fiesta.

I had a V1 and it was not parallax free, even slight changes to your cheek weld would change your POI. I'm very curious if they fixed this on the V2, but no reviewer thus far has thought to check. It's an easy test, prop the optic up somewhere so the dot sits on a distant reference point, say 100m away. Then just move your head around. If the dot drifts off the point it was "aiming" at when you started, that's parallax shift. My V1 failed this test dramatically.
@Triangle266 күн бұрын
I did test the parallax deviation on this optic - I did not report it in the video because it was not noteworthy. It performed well within range for any other reflex optic. Observably worse than a holographic, but not worse than other red dots. It should also be noted that I tested it using the correct (angle based) methodology. I have seen many KZbin reviewers test parallax by moving the reticle to the edge of the display window, which obviously doesn't provide a useful comparison. The Meprolight M5 has an enormous display window, which means the reticle remains visible from much sharper angles than in smaller optics. Of course there will be greater parallax deviation from these sharper angles. The same deviation would be observed in smaller optics, if the device housing wasn't obscuring the shooters view of the reticle. Either way, I've never tested a Tru Dot RDS, so I won't comment on that. I can say that I have tested parallax shift on the RDS PRO V2 and it's well within industry standards.
@jarvy2516 күн бұрын
@@Triangle26 The V1 (which for me was the mil-spec M5, if that makes a huge difference I don't know) I tested did not fail at the edge of the window, it failed at even slight movement with the dot still relatively centered in the window. Compared against a SIG and Holosun, the difference was dramatic. It was serious enough that I could not zero my rifle at 100m, I was chasing impacts all day, a problem that vanished when I replaced the optic. If they have indeed solved it, I'll probably give it a look!
@Triangle266 күн бұрын
@ Very interesting, thanks for sharing your experience. I’m going to try and reach out to some of my IDF contacts to see if they had any similar experiences. If what you are describing was a widespread issue, it may have been one of the drivers for the generational shift… Either way, for your purposes I think the V2 is worth a look. I did do a visual paralax check at 250 yards alongside an Eotech, an Aimpoint CCO, and a budget Chinese red dot. I observed nothing out of the ordinary from the V2.

@Triangle266 күн бұрын
You can spend hours on this, but can't be bothered to spend five minutes reading the law yourself? The first sentence is: "It shall be unlawful for *any person* to assemble from imported parts and semi-automatic rifle or any shotgun which is...". The law, as it is written, 100% applies to end-users. There is no debate about this. Some people point out that it has not historically been enforced against individuals, which is a fair argument. I don't care if people follow the law or not, that's not my business.

My man.. I have been watching for videos for a while now.. and I dont always comment.. but I would like to say that as an SKS owner who bought his first SKS back in the 80's ((Norinco SKS-D) I am always very impressed with your video presentations and thorough knowledge of the SKS rifle. You really know your stuff! There are a few other KZbinrs out there who seem to think they are the expert authority on the SKS rifle.. but their content is nowhere near your level of expertise. It would appear you are a purist when it comes to the SKS as you keep your rifles as close to original as possible and I would like to know what you think about "Bubba" rifles and aftermarket stocks and accessories? (I think I already know the answer lol) If you had to go with an aftermarket stock to put an SKS in.. is there any particular stock you would you go with ? Fab Defence? Arch Angel? Magpul? Choate? Tapco? Combat exchange? Kodiak Defense? Dragunov? ATI Strikeforce? - Also.. totally unrelated but has anyone ever told you that you look like UFC fighter Dan Ige? Keep up the good work! Salute!

Great video! Regarding the AK platform, was the weight of your AK setup the only negative opinion you have about using the Wolverine on the AK?
@Triangle266 күн бұрын
I'd say that was my only "unsolvable" negative opinion. I did have mixed results with gassing, some AK's were fine with the wolverine, other's were dangerously overpassed. All of that should be resolvable with a KNS piston however. I'd also note that while overall the locking system does a great job of handling non-concentric threads, I did observe POI shift between AKs. Realistically, someone using a Wolverine on an AK might need to install a KNS piston *and* true their muzzle face in order to get optimal performance. Which is a headache, but also perfectly manageable.

I have a " Shortage of Rationality ", as I live in the US, which can be very irrational in places and at times. As mentioned in the video, the 3 SKS rifles I have are better than the 3 centerfire lever actions I also have. While I have a ton of other guns, we all saw everyone scrambling when "bidet" or "joe and the hoe" were elected. Everyone suddenly realized they wanted to make every place like new york and/or california. The prices of lever actions went through the roof. I can and do have fun with SKS rifles, just as I do lever actions. The SKS and the lever actions can be used for deer hunting. The lever actions do also mate up with my revolvers. Nevertheless, the primary reason for my SKS rifles, lever actions, and revolver are the fact that government can become highly irrational, or at least more so than it already is, at any moment.
