Great video. I realize this was four years ago, but can you tell me more about your friend who had the larger fifth wheel that was with you and had to turn around? I am trying to plan a trip in the next couple years and we have a 41 foot fifth wheel that I pull with a Dooley. What size is your RV and what size was that fifth wheel that turned around? Do you think they could’ve made it?
@SteeringSouth6 ай бұрын
They absolutely could have made it. We went through some nasty mud up to the point they turned around. But the road hardened up only a few miles further.

I have a question / request- Can you measure the internal dimensions of the space inside of the bench ? We are looking at these as a possibility to put in our transit van - but we want to put a water tank inside , but can’t find the internal height from floor to seat , and the inside length and width . If you can measure it I would greatly appreciate it .

The entire thing is made in ....you guest it. China. The chairs or couches if you will are fine. The table is made of really cheap press wood of some type. The edges of the table are a sharp or straight cut , meaning they are not rounded. This makes them very irritating when you rest your arms on them. I put a towel on the table under my arms. To sum it up , I'm buying a Brad and Hall table made of real wood with nice smooth rounded edges. Sure it is about 395.00 but over the years worth it.

This dinette actually looks larger than the U-shaped, at least in the seat area… we recently replaced the pole supports of our dinette table with a folding base that converts it to a freestanding table. You can position the table at coffee table height for converting to the bed and we love it. We also have a U-shaped dinette and have been happy being able to move the table out of the way completely. It also allowed us to use the table outdoors if we want or as a kitchen island. Game changer!

Oh my God bro do I know exactly what you’re talking about with lifting the hose and setting it down we are stationary in a 38 foot fifth wheel because of the higher rent prices I bought a 2007 keystone Everest 340 B and it is a tank but Our dump entrance is 50 foot across the yard which has me connecting multiple hoses and then once I release the tank I have to go lift up the hose set it down lift it up set it down lift it up set it down etc. etc. so I know exactly what you’re talking about curious where you got the 300 gallon tank please elaborate if you can!!??

Hey! Yes, my tank is from PolyJohn. If you search PolyJohn 300gallon tank you’ll definitely find it. Looks like it’s about $650 right now. If I remember the shipping was a bit spendy too because of its size. Has to ship on a freight truck. Good luck!

My experience is…. Be careful twisting on the bayonet. I applied too much torque and snapped one of the securing “hooks” right off…. Ordering the replacement for that assembly was stupidly expensive so I have to think they “know” they got you over a barrel. Which of course they do…. Just letting people know to avoid this occurrence.

Thanks for the vid. How much do you pay for them to pump it? And what process would I take to find someone to do this? Thanks.
@SteeringSouth2 жыл бұрын
It costs us about $50 to pump the holding tank. You can call around to local septic companies. If the company pumps out normal septic tanks usually found on rural home properties, chances are they will pump this tank as well.

Thanks. Good video. I am thinking of getting one of those caged chemical totes to use as a holding tank. We are in ND and it would have to be inside a building in the winter as -30 is quite common. I would just vent it out the back wall of my shop. 250 gallons should be adequate for winter.

One comment I've seen on another channel sees the owner initially hook up to the grey water to 'test' the connections then move to the black water and finish with the grey water. Second, these macerator pumps can be damned handy in terms of filling up a tote tank in the bed of your truck (they're supposed to pump 'uphill' about 3 feet vertical) and then not have to manhandle the tote tank around the site- simply drive it to the dump station and let gravity from the truck bed do the work of draining it...Third, the macerator can be very handy if you need to dump a tank at your home or other non-commercial site- hose to the septic tank or line...

We're camping for the summer, while my husband is working out of state. The campground we're at, we love everything about. The only thing is that there's not anymore full hook up sites so the camp owner comes every 4-5 days to pump our black, grey and galley tanks with grinder pump thing. Is it ok to consistently do this for 5 or months? Does it clean everything out? He also refills black tank and flushes it as well.

Makes me sick to see the consumer being ripped off by todays junk rolling off the assembly line, and the cost is at premium prices. That's why I have bought older trailers, and brought them back with some repairs, when done I still have a quality RV, some we so well made they are still around. Examples are my old 84 Alpenlite 5th wheel now sold but it's still running around out there after me beating it on desert roads and forest roads. My old 1999 Alpenlite 5th wheel, solid at a rock, sold it in 2015 ( wish I still had that one ), and now my 2004 NU WA 29rl, original owner traveled in it for 17 years, now it's mine and solid as a rock. Those were quality trailers. I thought I would get fancy and bought a 2011 Keystone Cougar 29rl 5th wheel, had it a year, roof became a stick substance similar to glue traps for mice, hinges and knobs falling off. Had to get under fridge to run wire for my solar found garbage from the factory under there, coffee cup, wrappers from electrical wire, screws, saw dust etc. After one desert trip on gravel roads, three drawer glides had busted pulled away ripped screws out of the wall. The hinge on the queen bed was ripped out of the wall. Leaky, grey water tank, and the killer was the rear wall at the bottom pulled apart and I could see day light, to short of screws. Sorry for the long story, but the new stuff is garbage!
@SteeringSouth4 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. The list of repairs we’ve done to this trailer is beyond my memory now. One thing after another. Being handy is really the only way to put these things to hard use. Otherwise you’d have it in the shop way too often, and be broke!

Steering South , yep at over $100 an hour people either can afford it or learn how to do it themselves. I wouldn't own one if I didn't know how to work on them as I'm not rich. Years ago we bought a 40ft sailboat and sailed Mexico for years, it's the same thing, I had to learn how to fix everything.

Yeah I it's actually very simple if you have a septic at the house where you're staying you just report the cap the lid to it if it's concrete and if it's plastic they got caps on the top and you can hook it straight to your septic
