Fluted bolts . The first time I came across one was in 82 when I was getting ready to go to Norway for my first time I was what is now called a Designated Marksman , I first did this in 76 on my second time on op banner , I reported to the Armoura who sent me to another camp and Armoury where my L42A1 was handed over and I was to go kick rocks until 1530 . Times up so back I go to be handed my duck gun with a new scabberd which was heavenly quilted and in a pocket my old smooth bolt the one in the breech had flutes on it but they were not the kind you see now they were quite deep and aggressive here's why . Ice yep that stuff in sub zero you need them even the L1A1 had them on the bolt carriers this is because when in the Artic you go out to play in the white stuff things like rifles a skis stay outside this is because the normal daily temp is between minus 15 to 20 in those conditions if you try and fire a rifle with no fluting it will most likely to be frozen so it could explode in your face so first thing you did in the morning was to run the bolt a few times to break the ice I only had one time I had to take a rubber ballot to break open the bolt but that had been in a cold spot of minus 30

How does this compare to the Tippman speed loader? I'm having issues with it where it wants to pull the bullet up, making the round crooked.
@Gunroomtv4 күн бұрын
When used correctly the McFadden is better than the Tipman speed loader in our opinion. they can both be a bit fiddly, but the McFadden works the best.
@jeffrbake4 күн бұрын
@ thanks for the reply! I'll go ahead and pick it up. It's really not too expensive. I think the Tippman is damaging enough to actually cause feeding issues.

Yes, the rifle has a second sling screw that you can fit various bipods to. Check out the Spartan ProHunt.

Someone tell me… a fluted barrel removes weight at the front of the gun and helps the barrel cool down faster. A fluted bolt… traps dirt? I mean what is the benefit? It looks cool. My Sako S20 has a fluted barrel, but standard bolt. My cousin has a really nice Browning that’s also fluted barrel, standard bolt. In any case, this is probably the nicest stock I’ve seen Tikka make, however, the price is so close to a Sako (or more if you’re buying used or clearance) so I wonder what its place in the market is. If it were closer to a grand, I would pick one up. Street price now is closer to 1700 USD which is too high compared to what else is out there.

He's mistaken about longbows not being used at long range or only waiting until the enemy was close. At the Battle of Agincourt, it was precisely the power of these 100+ pound longbows that allowed the English to devastate the French cavalry from over 300 paces. The English archers shot volleys into the air, letting the arrows rain down on the advancing knights. Even if a knight wasn’t killed, the arrows could take down their horses, effectively stopping the charge. The technique he’s showing is also flawed, and it’s obvious to any experienced longbowman. His release is sloppy-he lets his hand slide forward, and he’s not drawing fully back. Typically, you want to draw to behind the ear to achieve maximum power, and release with your draw hand either moving slightly backward or staying steady. He’s also constantly shifting throughout the draw. Skilled longbowmen reach full draw behind the ear, pause briefly, and release with a steady rhythm. Here, I see no rhythm, just a half-hearted pull with no full draw or proper follow-through. It looks like he is releasing as his bow was still being leveled. Level your aim, hold it steady, then release. Also, draw the string behind your ear, not in front of it.

I would not be happy with those groups at all out of that type of Tikka at that range. I would try more loads until you find one it likes. My Tikka Superlite 6.5CM will shoot tighter groups at 200 yards off a regular sandbag and only a 9x scope. Mine likes Hornady Precision Hunter.
