That's a lot of expansion! Wow. I'm from Ireland and grown up around RIBs but live in cold Alberta now amd hoping to buy a 5M zodiac RIB. I'm worried about these -40°C days and what it will do to the pontoons. Is it essential to store indoors during very cold weather? Would the cold crack the pvc/glue? Can't find much on the internet and they're not too popular over this side if the world and we don't get Temps like this back home so nobody there can really tell me.

Shouldn't have any issues with a RIB boat. Best to have them covered so the UV doesn't damage the skin. Cold won't crack the PVC unless it's really old or un-cared for skin. If you can store indoors, that's great. But we store lots outside around our shop and customers never have problems in the Spring. Just have to top up the chambers in the Spring cause air will partially leak out with the valve Seals shrinking during the cold.

I’m Leaving my boat inflated on my trailer for the winter . Will it be ok.? Speaking from New England area .

As long as your trailer is set up properly for your boat, you shouldn't have a problem. Make sure trailer bunks run along the main tube and floor joints. I will also sometime let the air out of the keel to make sure the front floor boards don't get wonky when the air start to expand again. All depends on the boat.

Depends on the material, but for PVC Zodiac Z7096, Hypalon/CSM Z7098. We also use Stabond UK-148 or Weaver glue if Zodiac glue isn't available.

Both of my valves locked up this summer it sat for a little over a year uncovered.. Thanks man this helps a lot! It's a 1978, I've owned it since 2002.. Been a great boat but she's in need of some maintenance for sure but totally in good enough shape that its worth the money and time.

You didn't say it it was a PVC or Hypalon, but it looks like PVC. Was it a 2-part glue?

Yes boat was PVC and yes we used a 2 part glue for all our repairs unless specified.

Trying to help my son in law get the rear seat system to work for the grandkids. Screens work but the DVD player has an issue. I have copied DVDs to a media player that plugs into the entertainment system with RCA jacks. However, it will not play in the back (plays in front!) as the AUX selection is required on the entertainment system and the AUX selection does not seem to work as the DVD player is malfunctioning. Does anyone have any ideas? It’s a 2016 Buick SUV. Thanks.

I am orange/red vinyl Zodiac and there are areas that have bubbles where the vinyl material has delaminated. It's pretty much around where the accessories have been glued... Is this something that can be repaired?

What paint do you recommend for repainting a boat? Just bought an old used Avon Scout from the outfitter I work for. I would like to repaint the entire boat because it's a lousy grey. Also do you use anything else other then meks to clean or prep a boat before painting?

Your videos are very informative. It is difficult to find help on my inflatable where I live. Peru. It is even more difficult to get parts and products. Thanks to your videos , I have been able to make repairs and keep my boat in seaworthy condition. Keep them coming please

I would agree with the other commenter. Way to much work to setup and take down. Ended up with a True Kit. Easy peasy.

I don't know how you can glue the inner patch, and the inner part of the tear, without excess glue sticking the insides together of the boat/tube or whatever it may be. You can't get your hand in there to keep it separated... it seems like just form it like a pyramid and hope for the best.

Do you know if anyone makes a metal valve removal tool? I'm having trouble with the plastic ones breaking on me when I have to remove valves that have been in place for a long time. If not, any higher end PVC tools you can recommend?

Great simple video, I used to have a milpro 4.7m and had plenty of patches back in Australia but never did the inside patch, I live on a tiny island Anajawan Island now and just got given a small PVC rib which has about 40 patches over the one spot hahahaha and am just now removing them so I can redo apparently a large cut so doing the inside patch will be very valuable. I have only been using hypalon glues before and know the techniques are the same but would like to know a good pvc glue if you have time. Like someone from Fiji offered if you're ever in our part of the woods drop in! All free, food, beer and accommodation. Would appreciate some info on a great glue. The only weak spot on a MK5 Zodiac or any inflatable boat, would be the glued areas. If the glue has surpassed its life expectancy, those are usually the failure points.

hello my friend they gave me a zodiac 2245 from 1978. no air is lost but only the keel. do you think the boat is alive? do the glues hold up? I think it's hypalon. it's the same as the one you made in 79

If it's just the keel, repair it and boat should be good. Older boats are prone to glue failure due to their age. Nothing a repair and glue can't fix. But if it's structural, then chances are they will be other major failures to follow

Great video and thanks for sharing! I was wondering on rub-rail repairs where only a small portion of the end is peeling off, how would one repair a section of it? I wouldn’t want to remove the entire rail. Can I follow your prep with sanding as close as possible to the glued on section?

You sure can. It recommended to do the whole rail, but if it's still strong on the most part, just do a touch up on the peeling section.

I have a 1986 Zodiac Mk1 GT. I need to repair a small leak on a seam on the cone. I can not seem to figure out if it is PVC or Hypalon. I have all the original manuals, sales catalogs, purchase orders, repair kits (glue is dried), but nothing states what this boat is made out of. Can you help?

hi there ..i have a 14 ' mercury ..i recently got a hole in one of the tubes and the entire boat went flat ..also i am able to fill the boat up using only one of the valves .. it has 3 like the boat in this video also 1 for the inflatable keel..the boat is quite old (15 to 20 yrs ..is it toast ?? thanks in advance

Well, it sounds like it's toast. The inner baffles have let go by what your saying since you can fill the boat with one valve. It can be repaired, but labor time to repair such a thing, is sometimes cheaper just to get new and have peace of mind.
