The pull out/push in levers are very poorly made and if I were Toro I'd be embarrassed to put these fragile little levers on this equipment. What happened to the manufacturing industry? They use cheap sub standard parts and sell their products at over inflated prices for what you get for the money.

Yes, to much shade, coz you need at least 6 hours sun. Also it's to close. But shaving is good, at least for first years, to help develop roots, protection from other grass/plant

I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzbin.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

I have no idea why Toro felt the need for this extra brake, but it is a major pain in the ass. Like everyone else, the first time I finished mowing and needed to push the mower back into the corner where I store it, it wouldn't move after I disengaged both of the clutches. Dug around in the manual and found out I had to turn the ignition on to energize this idiotic brake. You don't need to be a prophet to guess what happened next. Yup, I didn't think to turn the ignition back off. Battery was dead the next time I wanted to mow. By dumb luck, it had enough juice left to release the brake, but of course not enough to start the motor. I want to know how to eliminate this stupid "feature" for good.

Sit. Turn key to engage voltage. Pull into neutral. You should hear the hydro release. Turn key off. Now move to park. If you hear hydro engage- turn key to voltage up. On - not start. Set to park. Stand. Pull bars back to neutral. Move mower. And yes first check the small allen wrench shaped mechanisms at back of frame just inside Rear wheels below motor that they are pushed and locked in the “in” position. Not sure why you have to manually disengage brake. Model 75740.

I'm a big big fan of reading *the manual on *everything.* NOT THAT I NEED TO! /Chest Bump Anyways, It is just the family of machines that is TORO/EXMARK/MTD?/eleventeen other brands that do this crap. There's always the label with the *handicapped* "diagram" & You do it exactly as shown (All 2 actual steps) & NOPE. DOESN'T ROLL. THERE'S MORE! I'd love to stand in a field with the guy who deemed this acceptable & Teabag him until he stops being a darn dummy.

You saved my butt today with this video. Mowing a hill in rural outskirts of Sydney Australia, near a wooden horizontal slat fence, after being handed this mower earlier in the day with no instructions or advice, after using a different toro model years ago every day for a few months. It always takes time to re-acquaint with these complicated machines especially after not using one for many years. Basically the power to one wheel was diminished, and I had trouble being able to turn, in that direction, Then I ended up on an slight grassed incline facing down towards a paddock fence. From 10m away I traveled 5m without the machine being able to turn either way without just carrying me the remaining 5m.. I stopped, tried backing up, tried zero turning both ways. Nothing was going to move it except forward. I hoped that I could get some traction using the better powered side and revs. Within 1-2 seconds I was gone another 5m and halfway through the fence, knocking out the lower horizontal beam with the dolly wheels, and the upper horizontal beam stopping at chest height, literally just at the right distance for the arms to be still engaged and disengaged, with one scrapping along the wood. Another foot and I’d have taken the force of the wooden beam in my arms and chest crushing them and possibly killing or severely injuring me. I of course disengaged the mower arms moments before as soon as I realised the machine was near out of control. Then I have the problem of a mower on a slight incline halfway Pushed through a paddock fence, with a steep embankment onto a creek another 10-15 metres away, and a machine won’t move at all. Called my work mate who said just adjust the pins at the back.. had no idea why it still wouldn’t move. Then looked up your video.. Took a while to realise that actually from underneath and behind, you need to pull the upper part of the S bend in the rods, to get them to move. You’d think you push them away or up, but it’s actually pulling and up. Then due to the slight incline me and another person still couldn’t move it. Luckily I was able to bring my Ute down to that spot tie a rope between both, and pull it up to a flat spot where I could start it. It turns out likely the poor power to one side was exacerbated by someone having left one of the manual push moving rods in and the other out. Though In future, I’ll know to be more cautious when being forced into a tricky situation.
