I always felt AH his music was ment this way; to further expand on, with different instruments. Way to go!

Outstanding version . Thanks for the attention to detail . Gary Novak is on the Short List , or there's No List . Mercy , his work with Chick Corea/Holdsworth et al remains the GPS .

I love the Bartender stopped working when Gary Let it loose.

Great job guys. Only advice I can give is to Gary. I saw Allan in 1984 during the Road Games album tour. When playing his songs everything was structured all the way up to One Note before the solos, then it was game on. Gary you are a skilled and brave guitarist to take this on. But I can tell you Allan would much rather have you close your eyes, forget the sheet music exists and try to find the road he was looking for. That road doesn't exist on paper because everytime Allan did a solo in one of his songs it was never the same. They were coming through his mind from some place we are all looking for as musicians. Next time you play one of his songs forget the sheet music exists, open your mind and let the notes flow.

Gary is the drummer (the drummer from the original recording I might add), and the solo form for this song is too complicated to not be looking at the chart unless you've memorised, it which it not practical for a professional musician.

Easily my favorite record of Allan's, partly because it's with my favorite rendition of his band. Gary underpins each track he performed on perfectly. Warsaw Summer Jazz Days '98 , as well, is monstrous. Really glad to hear Gary play this piece again, and with a band as faithfully accurate and equipped as one can ask for. Commendable performance, each of you.

I can hear Allan saying something humble and self effacing if he saw this : "Oh good, I can be in the audience and watch the guy that doesn't screw up the chords". I miss that geezer

Flipping sheet music during the middle of the solo 😂. It's improvising over repeated form, or is it?
@andywaddellmusic Жыл бұрын
No it’s not at all a repeating form 😂
