For svgs, is it better to buy a file when each piece is a separate layer and each letter in a separated layer or most of pieces are grouped together
@CraftsJules9 ай бұрын
Hi, that depends on what you're trying to do. That also depends on the designer and how they lay out the layers in the original file. If you want complete control to change colors and maybe rainbow it up then I'd recommend each piece to be separate.

heyy , just loved your way of explaining 🤍🤍. the stickers that we buy on etsy come with background or we have to remove it before printing ? thank for your vedio .
@CraftsJules9 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I couldn't answer the question though. If the sticker has a background or not would depend on the designer. If the listing isn't clear, I'd recommend messaging the shop owner.

I love your videos. I am a newbe ... Here's my problem....I downloaded a svg file from etsy and the design says cutest catch with a few fish swimming around. I put the design on the canvas and it looks fine. I hit the make it button and the mirror button and then the deign literally comes apart. The words are in a straight line and the little fish are all grouped together. It also prints that way. What am I doing wrong. I thought the design would print out just like I purchased it. Please help. Thank you in advance.

Hello Connie, Thanks! Happy to hear that ☺️ Once you add your design to design space you need to select all and flatten. Right now you’re cutting your design as individual pieces. However, if you flatten it is usually with the intention to Print Then Cut. Good luck!

One more question, how can you save svg file to be small size ? I use illustrator to do design and I select size as 1000 x 1000px . I create the design then i save it as SVG file but the size come out more than 40KB. I look at SVG file from other designers, their files show only 6-10KB. None of this explains how to prevent the adhesive mat from damaging the print that goes face-down.
@CraftsJules3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I suggest using the mat that is intended for paper (light grip).
@MassiveSwordAndCards3 жыл бұрын
@@CraftsJules Yeah, that was the first thing I tried. Still rips everything or damages the ink. The solution I found was to put a small piece of waxy paper smooth-side-up on the mat under the project area. It's not a great compromise since you can't use the full mat this way and you lose most of the grip... but hey it's better than nothing.
@CraftsJules3 жыл бұрын
@@MassiveSwordAndCards Why weight of paper are you using? It should be 110 lb paper.
@MassiveSwordAndCards3 жыл бұрын
@@CraftsJules I have many different gsm papers from copy paper to heavy card stock, this is irrelevant to the problem. Paper rips regardless of density, and has no bearing on protecting the ink. My solution to the issue was to put down wax paper between the mat and the paper. It's not a good solution though because obviously the paper doesn't stay in place very well.
@CraftsJules3 жыл бұрын
@@MassiveSwordAndCards Thicker paper is less likely to tear. As for the ink, as long as it's not a glossy finish paper then letting the ink dry a few minutes should be fine. Also, make sure you are using the Light Grip mat. This is what I do and have never had an issue with the ink smudging or the page tearing.

@CraftsJules Жыл бұрын
@@theresapalino4769 Great! So, when sandblasting the silver is not going to be like the smooth ultra shiny rim. You can expect it to be a little rougher as sand removes layers in a rough way. Glass will be the same. I’m not sure what PSI I’m on really. I set it higher and control it with how much pressure I put in the gun while working with different materials.

@CraftsJules3 жыл бұрын
That's going to be tricky but I think it can be done. I would suggest you do the Print then Cut process first. Once you have it printed on both sides and cut you strategically place the cutout back on the mat in a position that you can control so when you go to add the Writing you can move the text on the mat in DS to light up with the cutout on your physical mat. Make sense?
