There appears to be a 2 piano orchestral version, possibly played by Nino Rota himself and one other pianist in the Mantovani orchestral version. Do you know if the piano music for the 2 piano version is available, or was it specially orchestrated/scored for that version and all we have is the version you're playing?

Hallo lieber Markus.

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there She would merengue and do the cha-cha And while she tried to be a star Tony always tended bar Across the crowded floor, they worked from eight til four They were young and they had each other Who could ask for more? At the copa (co) Copacabana (Copacabana) The hottest spot north of Havana (here) At the copa (co) Copacabana Music and passion were always the fashion At the copa they fell in love Copa, Copacabana His name was Rico He wore a diamond He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancing there And when she finished, he called her over But Rico went a bit to far Tony sailed across the bar And then the punches flew and chairs were smashed in two There was blood and a single gun shot But just who shot who? At the copa (co) Copacabana (Copacabana) The hottest spot north of Havana (here) At the copa (co) Copacabana Music and passion were always the fashion At the copa, she lost her love (Copa, Copacabana) (Copa, Copacabana) (Copacabana) like in Havana (Copa, banana) Music and passion were always in fashion Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl But that was thirty years ago, when they used to have a show Now it's a disco, but not for Lola Still in dress she used to wear Faded feathers in her hair She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind She lost her youth and she lost her Tony Now she's lost her mind At the copa (co) Copacabana (Copacabana) The hottest spot north of Havana (here) At the copa (co) Copacabana Music and passion were always in fashion At the copa don't fall in love don't fall in love (Copacabana) (Copacabana)

This piece of music evokes many early memories for me. I often heard my father whistle this song while taking night walks with me when I was little, especially when he was in a good mood. Even after his early passing, this memory remains one of the most cherished I have of him. Another unforgettable memory linked to this song occurred late at night in a remote plain area of interior Mongolia. I recall wearing earplugs and walking alone under the full moon, with the clouds swirling around it, seemingly dancing in harmony with the moon. At that moment, I could truly connect with what the composer depicted. I can now play this song on the Kalimba and Tongue Drum, it still deeply resonates with the depth of my heart. Music is a special bonding with various parts of our lives, whether from the past or present. Thank you for playing it beautifully.

I don't know if this will be useful to anyone else, but it's fun imagining a little movie in your head as you listen to this. Maybe you've already had your own interpretation of the 'story'. I'm posting mine below, but if you're like me I'd make your own interpretation before being influenced by someone else's: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Intro/A Section 0:09 - Curtains open/Camera zooms in to reveal some small town on a nice day, pleasant but perhaps boring. 0:13 - The main character appears, some youngster - a loveable scamp - clearly happy with themselves. The Scamp is excitedly whispering something into another child's ear. 0:16 - The ascending melody's 'poking' of a tritone skip shows that the Scamps Secret is actually surprising, not something to be expected from a quiet little village community. *Whatever this secret is, it isn't about something too serious. It's too silly of a melody to be about death, destruction, or loss. It's like a white lie. I picture that the 'Scamp' (my name for the main character of this piece) was spying on someone; a couple sneaking a kiss, a man secretly buying a gift for a lady, maybe a harmless prank.* 0:20 - The Scamp tells this person to keep the secret a secret here, the downward fall of the melody is like saying "oh yes it's fun but it'd be better if we went back to normal (the tonic) and kept this between us..." 0:24 - But this is too good to drop the subject. Here, either the Scamp can't help themselves and elaborates on the story, or the listener they were talking to starts to repeat the story for clarification. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- B Section 0:36 - Flashback Sequence to the event the Scamp is keeping a secret about. The large chords in A major are event or people bigger than the Scamp, and the Scamp is spying on it. 0:39 - The Scamp tiptoes closer to a better point of view 0:41 - The Event almost notices the Scamp 0:45 - No worries for the Scamp, they get away easily 0:47 - The Event Continues 0:54 - The Scandalous Secret occurs 0:57 - The Scamp sneaks away with self-satisfaction --------------------------------------------------------------------- A Section 1:00 - Back to the town, but now it isn't the Scamp excitedly telling The Secret: It's the other child, the one they told first. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- C Section 1:23 - The Camera pans out. Many people are becoming aware of the secret and its details are starting to get lost or fabricated. The Scamp has lost control of the tale, and may be afraid that they'll be revealed as the originator, but is still very self satisfied and amused. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- D Section 1:46 - OH NO! The Scamp is visited by their Father, or the people they spied on in the B section and they're furious. Kicking down the door, screaming "SCAMP!" 1:50 - A brief digression by the angry intruder, they explain the consequences of the Scamp's behavior on the subjects of their secret in an appeal to empathy. 1:54 - The intruder threatens serious consequences for the Scamp if they don't fess up. They repeat their plight and follow up with more threats ---------------------------------------------------------------------- C Section 2:09 - Annoyingly, the Scamp feigns surprise and starts recounting all of the spurious details spread by the townsfolk. 2:18 - "If so many parts of the story are false, why not the detail that it was me?" says the Scamp with a smug look 2:20 - The intruder Angrily recounts the contradictory details in the Scamp's alibi 2:30 - This Angry repeat of the C section concludes with the Intruder threatening consequences to the Scamp with the same facetiousness the Scamp treats others with. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A Section 2:33 - Another Child saw the Scamp being reprimanded by the Intruder from the D section and spreads this news in the same way the Scamp spread the first secret.

Awesome job! I couldn't help but laugh out loud when that dorky C major theme came back at 2:09, and the way you made it more agitated - like it's annoyed at something - at 2:20 is great! 👏👏
