Fun vid! I'm guessing thats the sword is by Honshu? War club looks to be the Cold Steel synthetic one. Not the most accurate representations of teal historical weapons but good enough for a vid & backyard cutting; certainly proves the point at least.

@Topproductionminimovies nothing wrong with that. A solid blade that one can just treat tough & not worry about is always good. And as long as folks aren't trying to say or sell them as 100% accurate then all good. I own a few swords that are fun cutters but are "frankenswords". A blade from one time peroid with a hilt from a other or with a fantasy blade or hilt... Still fun & I love having them even if they are what they are. Rock On!

Fun little video, one thing to consider is that...the person wielding the sword would likely being wearing a decent amount of armor, chainmail, thick gambson, some form of helmet. The guy with with club, not so much. Thats not to say the club would be useless, warhammers were very prevalent on euro battlefields for the same reason, but the odds heavily against the guy with the club lol.

Good job Buddy welcome to the club. I suggest 20 grains for target practice and 35 for hunting as a backup. Not trying to bust your chops but the frizzen is that piece you lift up to expose the pan where you put the powder. A poorly tempered frizzen, (the part the flint strike against) can ruin a fine flintlock. You got a good one there Brother, quick ignition. Keep experimenting and making videos young Man. New sub.

Nice, fella. There are few things more satisfying than the first time successfully using an item we've built ourselves. Your lock and touch hole placement are pretty good, as witnessed by the short hang time. There are little tricks that may reduce it more. I encourage you and anyone else to further explore muzzleloading. Observe all shooter safety guidelines while engaged, with the added element of loose powder.

Bro, if you weren’t paying attention, he just out the gun together, so flinching after firing this 50 caliber behemoth is a fine by me. At least he shot the gun the way it was meant to, with one hand unlike the other black powder newbies that shoot a black powder pistols with two and looking goofy as hell. I recommend this guy ear protection at least for consideration that being deaf isn’t fun because I’ve personally dealt with a lot of deaf motherf&$@ers that didn’t wear ear pro when they should have. Eye pro isn’t entirely necessary but I don’t discourage it, as long as you pay attention to what your doing and you take every safety measure to prevent a gun from blowing up like handling squib loads what not, they’re still good for those “what if” situations.

I love the video, a good demonstration of the sheer power of a 50 caliber black powder handgun, loved the part when you shot it with one hand the way it was intended. some people are kinda cringe when shooting older firearms like that and they shoot with two hands together for some odd reason, I always shoot handguns with one hand unless it’s a handgun design that’s made past the 1950s. I do have one suggestion for you since that you’re young and all and I can’t stress this enough, please put on some hearing protection when shooting. I know it sounds like I’m just giving another safety suggestion but I’m serious, I’ve dealt with people as young as 18 that suffer from major hearing loss because they weren’t taught any better and now they suffer the consequences and most of those people I know have said that it’s worse for them to deal with because they have a hard for them understand what you’re saying. My apologies if I seem annoying for suggesting this, it’s just that I’ve worn some kind of hearing protection while shooting all my life. I personally just wear Loop earplugs, they don’t stand out like those obnoxious and ugly headphones. But like I said, I love the video and I look forward to seeing more content. Do you mind telling me what brand of flintlock that is? I might consider getting a flintlock rifle some day and I think something of that quality will make a great piece in my collection. Will Appreciate the feedback! ❤

@@diplexnormal3353 I'm surprised someone noticed the one handed shot. I was told by a friend that's how you have to do it so I did lol. When you said ‘reduce the load’, do you mean the pan? I’m personally not experienced with flintlocks but what you said makes sense, as it makes the burn quicker.
@lawrencethomas6454 ай бұрын
Less powder behind the ball. The pan is just a flash to set the barrel off or in modern terms the primer.

@@lawrencethomas645 The pan is what is important because more powder in it acts like a fuse and delays fire to the flash-hole. The delay allows whatever flinch you have to effect your shooting

Please don't. You're nobody's trained monkey. I started building muzzleloaders, not kits, almost 40 years ago. They are a safe and reliable way to add another dimension to a shooting lifestyle. They are, however, machines and tools, and as such can kill you just as dead from negligence as by design. Don't fart around with these as though they were stage props. The original comment was ridiculously ignorant.
@gbenother87555 ай бұрын
Given the way OP describes what happened, and given the technical definition of "negligent discharge", this absolutely was one. It's really not a question of semantics. He touched the triggrr prior to being ready to fire, that is the negligence. His arguing about it and trying to seem less culpable bu framing it as something else doesn't speak well for his teachability. Admitting you've made a mistake is the first step to correcting it.
