Wow! Thanks for sharing! I do have an important question. Won't the microgreens have far less nutrition that those grown in soil with compost, worm castings, natural fertilizers, etc.? I thought the nutrition of the plant was dependent upon the nutrition of the soil. Where this has no soil, although they look healthy, wouldn't they be much less nutritious because they haven't been able to uptake soil nutrients? I would love to try this, but the purpose of growing microgreens is to have exceptional nutrition and not food void of it. Can you please offer advice/help by answering this question? Thanks, again. 🙂

It is true about the uptake nutrients after microgreen period had passed. During microgreen stage (and sprouting stage), the nutrients come from the reserved which pre-stored from the seed itself. With help from water it reduces most of the so-call nutrients inhibitor and it starts to expanding those properties like human cell dividing and multiplying. Check out Doug Evans (sprout man, he wrote the book about sprouting) videos. Hope this help.

@@masterlingge579 Beautiful answer! Thank you. In fact, this video is mainly about cleaner and easier way of growing microgreens at home. As far as I heard, the seed will take care of nutrients for a few days. First two leaves/embryo are called cotyledons and are packed with nutrients. These are eaten a week to 10 -15 days as soon as the true leaves begin to appear.

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been experimenting with growing microgreens for the past year and wanted to find a cleaner way. Well, this is a game changer! I ordered the silicone mesh from Amazon and my first batch grew really well - just harvested them yesterday (China Rose Radish). I just started a tray of Garden Cress seeds today and am excited to watch the growth! Thanks again and have a wonderful day! :) ~ Mary

Thank you. I noticed you filled the tray with water. Did you at any time spray the top of the sprouts like I've seen with other sprouting videos. They sprayed the sprouts a few times per day. Does a water tray eliminate this step? Where did you find such a large tray?
@PadmaAleti9 ай бұрын
I spray seeds with 3%hydrogen peroxide + water once to prevent mold and speed up germination. You can spray it on the first day (if the seeds are bigger, do it on the second day too.) But don't spray once the sprouts shoot up. This will cause mold.
@lareinelester6859 ай бұрын
@@PadmaAleti Oh I see. Thank you. Does filling the tray with water also prevent the need to spray every day? Where did you find the large tray to put your sprouts over?
@PadmaAleti9 ай бұрын
@@lareinelester685 It is simple logic...As the roots grow downwards towards water, even if the water level goes down, the roots will be long enough to be touching the water all the time. There is no need to spray once you see the root come out. The large tray is just a base of a seed started tray and you can find them in nurseries or walmart or any store that sells seed starter trays.

@@PadmaAletiWell my question was about the top. Other sprouters say the top leaves must be watered too. It seems each sprout video contradicts the other. Thanks for your input

Hi hi, may I know how to sanitize the silicone mat after used? I can not find food grade HP in my country and afraid that medical HP contain silver, in addition, I don’t want to use bleach on any of my food containers. So is it ok to boil it since it’s PET inside with silicone coating (edge will has no silicone coating after cutting) and some PET can only bear 60 degrees C.
@PadmaAleti11 ай бұрын
Just soap water is enough to wash the silicone mesh. Dry thoroughly... if you are in doubt, spray some rubbing alcohol after washing and then rinse it off before drying the mat.

Love this video SO HELPFUL. Can you tell me how much water do you put in the seed starter tray? the berry baskets with the seeds in it can not be touching the water in the seed starting tray yet? also do you change the water from the seed starting tray through the growing process? Do you spray the seed with filtered water or with the Epson salt water mix? or the Epson salt water mix is only for the seed starting tray? I saw that you did not cover the seeds in the berry baskets at any point so I don't have to cover them like you did with the radish seeds at the beginning of the video yet? Please Help thank you!! Also where do you buy your microgreens seeds? Thank you again!!
@PadmaAleti Жыл бұрын
Thank you.🙏 Seeds should be touching the water underneath. As they absorb water and grow roots, the water level goes down. Since the roots grow downwards, they keep chasing the water 😄. You can change water once in 2-3days. Spray only until the seed breaks, to keep it moist. Please watch the video again and you will find all the answers.

Greet ideas, indeed .. since to be pending to spray twice a day is a little bit annoying for me , so thank you so much for sharing. One question , in the very small seeds as broccoli and alike , do you put 2 layers of silicon mesh , I had to use a polyester fabric mesh with tiny, tiny holes otherwise im loosing seeds ( and they are not cheep in Europe..nothing is cheap ha ha ) I did like you ..nothing from special shop , only organic seeds ...Thanks again

once or twice in between, depending on harvest time. Make sure you don't wet the microgreens above the mesh. You can lift the tray easily and change water in the bowl. Roots grow through the mesh holes, keeping everything intact.

Amazing video - probably the ONE video on microgreens that has been game-changing for me actually! I sincerely thank you for that! I would be extremely grateful if you confirm I get this right! In the very beginning you basically fill the trays with water up to the very brim of the baskets so the mesh is barely on the surface of the water, correct? As the microgreens grow their roots the water level should be such as to allow just the bottom endings of the roots to sit in it, correct? Finally, I get that you mist with H2O2 in the beginning when you seed your trays, but do you continue to do so in the process of growing? Or do you only do that when you change the water? Do you only mist with diluted H2O2 or is the actual watering done with the diluted H2O2? I am so sorry for the amount of questions I have piled up on you, but I just can't seem to keep my excitement under control! 😁
@PadmaAleti Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response, and thank you for trusting my method. Q1. Yes Q2.Yes .. you can watch the video again and read the instructions, too Q3. I spray H2O2 to speed up germination and also to prevent mold. Once the water level goes down while the roots absorb water, you shouldn't spray h2o2 water because it is better to keep the area dry. When you change water, make sure you don't wet the top tray, lift it up, rinse the bowl, and refill. There is no need for h2o2. You can add some epsom salt or even hydroponic nutrients .. I hope I answered all your questions 😊 Good Luck!
