Congratulations! I'd love to move to a bigger spot, I'm still in my starter home 20 some years later LOL! Set up a simple track to scratch the itch while you take your time doing the main events!

I just saw my first video of your old track and subscribed and saw this video. So glad you're upgrading. I hope to start my slot car / track journey soon. It is all nostalgia for me. I had a track as a kid and now I want to setup one as I get near retirement age to enjoy the hobby in my later years. But it will be slow going for me for a couple of reasons. However, I hope you document your new setup and slot car / track journey since it will be fascinating for me and likely at least a little helpful. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes.

Thank you for this. I too have a love for slot racing. And I am ready to mold cars myself. One caveat that I would like to understand is the rear wing/spoiler. Is there a technique to do cars where the wings can't be detached (I would like to make the 1998 Mercedes GTR and the Bugatti Bolidde a slot car as that example)? I'm starting with the 2022 Countach just to get a feel of things..

Nice, a couple of questions for you. So the red, white 24 gauge colored wire etc is used to hold the rail in? So what is the actual rail? Flat piece of steel ribbon? What size is that? Same as used in the AFX track? Thanks
@TheSlotSpotАй бұрын
@@rottiehood3872 I’m not sure if the size but yeah it’s like a steel ribbon.

Great videos. I use a bread twisty to hold the motor box together while I remove and install it. Bulkhead to bulkhead. One less piece to pinch.

Hey brother, thanks for the tips. Found a Life-Like Nascar set at a thrift store today and initially she showed no life and my heart sank, but I followed your advice on resetting the contacts and she's running like new. Subscribed! 👍🔥💯👊🏼

have you tried this with RC cars?
@TheSlotSpot2 ай бұрын
No I haven’t. I’m not sure how silicone would work on an RC car. Silicone likes to pickup a lot of dust. You may be able to use the same process but use some type of rubber to pour into the mold.

Denatured alcohol will not wash off grease. Grease is a hydrocarbon. White spirit or lighter fluid would be more appropriate. I don't own any HO cars. Why don't you true up tyres like 1/32 and 1/24 scale ?

Interesting video. I personally do not like to use a dremel tool for car reconditioning. I find a dremel to be a little too aggressive. Pencil erasers work well on armatures and are not as aggressive. High grit sandpaper or emery cloth works well on the pick up shoes and generally makes them flat to the track.

Depends who you ask but if you’re talking new retail I’d say 1/32 has the most options available. HO only has a handful of manufacturers.

Fun video. Takes me back to my teenager days! Thanks for all the detail. I’d forgotten about the shoe shaping - nice touch. Those magna-tractions designs were kinda complicated. Maybe show a G-plus car too. Another idea - compare AFX to Tyco innards. Until then, cheers!
