People in the west need to realise that no matter how good the martial arts is, one still needs to be in good shape. The bagua this guys is performing vs most white dude who claim to be master is very different. Plus in Wudang, they train hard to stay in shape. This is really missing in the western world and that ultimately gives kung fu a bad name. Really tired of seeing masters who are not very old at all, be fat and not have any fluidity and strength and claim that they don’t need to be in shape to kick someone’s ass and then gets knocked down by a Muay Thai guy who may have trained half the time that this so called kung fu master did. If you aren’t training like a warrior, then no point training.

Most of the bagua I see out of wudan is complete crap, this guy is pretty good but still way too external. He should practice Long Fist or some other external Kung Fu instead. Compare kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKrGp3ytqL5rn6ssi=er2Ht2rCfd6QTVIq

If you watch this guys unedited videos with no music, his breath is not in synch with his movements. He struggles to breath. He also pretends to play the guqin 😂.

This is normal Baguazhang and has no relation to Wudangshan. To those who know, the Taoist priest is doing normal BGZ common in wushu conpetitions in China. BGZ was invented by Dong Haichuan in the 1850s/60s and first taught in Beijing. BGZ has no known relation at all to Wudang; some bureaucrats in 1920s China wrongly classified it as a Wudang art because of it's internal focus.

i agree that he is doing a wushu form of bagua. if you watch his other unedited videos, his breathing is not in sync with his movements. but its also important to note that Shaolin and Wudang are like libraries, they absorb styles and create their own version of it to amplify the foundation of their own art.

@@Livingtree32 traditional versus classical, rebuilding a system due lost from a cultural purge is fine. Try not to get stuck too much on concept of traditional. Also there are multiple daoist mountains through out china. And people fled to other countries which knowledge can be re-absorbed

just copy the movements. Wudang Bagua is just modern wushu dancing. no need to be overly correct with the movements.

They're taking large leaps and making unnecessary movements in-between, like "landing" and then "jumping" back up again. the water doesn't take the full force of his body because that's not where the trajectory of his jump would dictate he'd land. Its not fake, its theatrical.
