Initially i thought this guy was sounding off. But he is actually dropping some really serious bombs in the wedding industry! People fly into this industry without knowing that this is not just a retirement plan. It's a full functioning work yourself to death or pay premium for someone to work on it for you. The photography portion is more personal to me cause thats my background and i build a venue with amazing things for other photographers to use,.. but they do the most basic stuff and charge brides crazy $$$ I've been in the wedding industry for 17 years, owned my venue for 8 years. This industry is tough, it looks glamorous on the outside, but the backstage is crazy tough. We've been great and successful thankfully, but the competition keeps getting bigger and badder from people that do not care about profit.

I think she needs a business coach. I think you have to figure out whats the most important objective of your business. Your business seems like it's going through canibalism. Your Venue space is keeping away clients and your Tatto space is keeping away venue/event clients. It's a good thing to realize that you have only gotten 1 complaint about the space and the noise, but imagine how many people look past your business who could have been potential clients. Additionally, You got to always distinguish the need to run a charity and a business. Are you in this for profit or are you in this to give free things to the community? That mixed ideology will get you stuck and frustrated everyday. If you need help or advice i can give you some tips that could help get an idea on how to focus your goals for your event venue. Wish you the best!

Wow! i lost my dad 3 years ago unexpectedly. He wasn't my business partner but he was vested in it. I can relate to the idea of walking through my venue and remembering his voice and how proud he was of every building we put up. I Didn't realize how much i worked and lived for his approval. It took me almost 2 years to get my mind back focused on my venue after his passing... Good Stuff!!!

SHe's Absolutely right on the merging of short term rentals and venue space merging. We have 2 short term rentals on our property and charge almost double the market value and it is always booked!
@TheVenueRx2 ай бұрын
It's cool to hear how you've been able to leverage that!

Every wedding venue in your area is a competitor. Their very existence is the reason why you might A. Not fill up your calender. B. Not charge a higher price for your venue. They are not your friends. No matter how much there is always a need to want to work together. The idea of helping each other out is just not how capitalism works. In my venue, we currently building a Million dollar Glass chapel, and thats been driven by the need to be more competitive with over 70 new wedding venues in my area within a 50 mile radius of my venue. It doesn't have to be dog eat dog, but i would never expect to cumbaya with venues that take food off my dinner table.
@TheVenueRx2 ай бұрын
Def not “Kumbaya” but definitely there are advantages with working together. I think the biggest issues is unzoned or improperly zoned venues and those who take the “inventory” in an area and suck the oxygen from venues who go through all the hoops to get permits/zoning etc correct. I do think differentiation matters on more than a physical level, there’s the service, the employees, and ultimately your target client also has to be in the area and know you exist.

Wow! She hit the nail on the head at 36:40 - Our part of the hospitality industry used to be dominated by Bed and Breakfast's that would play host to wedding weekends (traditionally ending with a brunch together on the final day) then we saw the rise of "a la carte" and "blank canvas" event venues... Now that this space is more competitive "wedding weekends" are absolutely becoming recognized as a new, unique and underserved niche! Very nice to hear this on VenueRX! Edit: I like when she mentions keeping things separate but working together! Absolutely best to compartmentalize in order to minimize weaknesses between the two parts of the business while still having the ability to leverage strengths of both.

Awesome Journey! I've had to get 3 loans for my Wedding Venue, and the last loan i got i had the banks competing to lend to me. Worked on Getting my loan to value in a solid space, and even after choosing a lender, i still get calls from Banks that want to refinance for a lower rate and even tempt me with a long term sba option to switch. You have an amazing venue! no way you should just have one wedding booked. FB, IG and Tiktok is a must. I wish you the best and much success!
