Been my band since 1983 when I watched Play at Home and Porrohman etched Stuart’s soul into my being forever. Stuck with them in every post-Stuart iteration, because they were honouring his memory and the songs. Whatever this is, it isn’t Big Country and it really isn’t honouring Stuart’s legacy.

What idiot shouts ‘for the better?’ Certainly isn’t. Personally I find it offensive the way Tommie Paxton copies Stuart’s mannerisms.Particularly the infamous Without the aid of a safety net pose. This sounds awful, rushed and lacking

Who is the bass player? It doesn’t look like Gil Allen, don’t tell me he’s left as well or was this a stand in?
@8Boing2 ай бұрын
Chris Stones, he replaced Gil who has gone back to Skids as Jobson rejigged that line up recently too. Richard was able to offer Gil more gigs (Skids/Armory Show) in 2025 than BC apparently.

Hi there Many thanks for your reply, much appreciated. You obviously know a bit more about these things than I (not difficult some might say and I don’t do FB). So was Gil’s departure amicable? What do you know of Simon Hough’s sudden departure? Any more info on exact reasons for Mark B’s leaving? Is Tommy Paxton staying? Am I right to smell a rat or two? It does seem an unholy mess…. All help/info much appreciated
@8Boing2 ай бұрын
@@stephenchapman249from what I can gather the bands booking agent advised that they should take a break from gigging in 2025 to not over saturate themselves and at the same time booked Simon, Mark and some other musicians to do some SA tribute shows. I think these events then led to Simon leaving and subsequently Mark. Tommy came in to fulfil the remaining Steeltown Revisited gigs but who knows what the future holds.

Wow….that is very interesting and far less Machiavellian than I feared. Many thanks for updating me, much appreciated I must admit, that whilst I love the music, and actually really liked the 2011 shows, I think it is getting embarrassing now, and the lack of new music is a problem for me, even tho I do understand it’s not really commercially viable.

Thank you for this. Decades of gigs, decades of GMM gigs, and it took this song last night to bring entirely unexpected tears to my eyes for the first time at a gig. I'd been looking forward to hearing this live again after all these years since I got my ticket. It was a perfect version - something very special about it.
