"On Fire" is a little strong with mush burgers and 30 MPH onshore wind and cold as hell. But applause to you dedicated surfers at a dangerous spot. Currents and rocks and the Bridge right over the top of you. Unique surf spot. Pray for surf!!!

I'm an Aussie. Interesting wave. We don,t get it like that over here. Is it fun?
@sirferr89022 жыл бұрын
Very. On good days you can ride from the west or ocean side of the GGB all the way around the point to the inside with a mix of everything in doing so- big lined up walls, fat floaters over Rhino Rock, cutbacks, threading the needle through the rocks, barrels on the inside usually with a crowd watching. Even saw a “jumper” once…one of the few survivors.
@Streetsailing2 жыл бұрын
It's definitely an interesting spot for a variety of sports. Surfers have claimed it as there territory but it doesn't stop SUPs, Windsurfers, Kitesurfers, Wingfoilers, efoilers, tow foilers, bodysurfers, boogie surfers, and jumpers from enjoying this unique playground. Most surfers claim it's a crappy break but for some reason they keep showing up. hmm, I'm sure there's great white warning there too. It takes a bit of knowhow to not get in trouble there so that keeps people away but it's alway over crowded on good days which are rare enough. I've had to tow in a few surfers who got sucked out with the ebb over the years. I've been hitting that spot for over 30yrs and still no respect from surfers. Just plain pissed off people there sometimes. If you're lucky to catch it when you're passing through, it's quite the venue. Can't beat the view. Just be nice. We're all just trying to have fun.

Actually, windfoiling experience is the best background for wingfoiling. Took me about 3 sessions to make the switch. My 18yo son who had much more windsurf-foil experience was up on wingfoil in 15 minutes.

I notice the front wheels are closer together than the back wheels. Can you explain the advantages of this setup. Most ATB's have the front and back wheel width the same.
@Streetsailing3 жыл бұрын
These boards are used for windsurfing on land and now winging. The wider rear trucks offer much more stability and practically eliminates speed wobbles. They also keep the wheels far away from you feet to avoid sudden braking or rubbing. ATBs have footstraps so your feet are locked in. The Streetsailing deck is well suited for freestyling and general footwork while transitioning from one tack to the other. Just like windsurfing on land.

oops, somehow i accidentally deleted the response. In any case, the wider trucks offer stability and more space for your back foot so you don't wheel bite. Also eliminates speed wobble at higher speeds. It's also fun when you get into sliding moves on the beach. One issue some beginners have is that they get hit by the rear truck when they are learning to wing and have to step off a lot. The solution here is to just spin the board around and ride it with the wide trucks forward until you're spending more time on the board than off the board.
