The word we got from the crew back then was that one of the water hoses had let go and he slipped on his own water out of the gate. This is backed up by the fact that you can see a small puddle or something on the line where the car left from.

All the people complaining about the lack of prep on the track are just bad tuners and don’t know what they’re doing. It’s not anymore dangerous than a regular drag race on a prep surface. Just learn to tune your car. There was 0 crashes in Edmonton sounds like you guys in BC just have a skill issue. None of the street outlaws guys crash often and they race no prep constantly. Racing no prep takes way more skill tuning your car not only for power management but suspension, chassis, tires etc. maybe if yall didn’t treat it as a regular prep race you wouldn’t have so many issues.

@@foghornleghorn8536 um no. Some of the cars have been around for 10 plus years in the no prep scene. Also crashes are bound to happen to everyone no matter what you race on just a matter of time. People crash cars at nhra events pretty much every event and they’re on prepped tracks.

@@UnhingedCanadian Your comment: "Racing no prep takes way more skill tuning your car not only for power management but suspension, chassis, tires etc." What would you expect would be the likely outcome of a type of racing that required "way more skill tuning your car not only for power management but suspension, chassis, tires etc." More wrecks or less wrecks.
@UnhingedCanadian
@UnhingedCanadian 2 күн бұрын
@@foghornleghorn8536 exactly the same amount of wrecks if the people racing in it are more skilled and are real no prep racers. If you take a bunch of lesser skilled regular prep drivers that race brackets at pristine tracks all day then yeah sure it’s probably more dangerous and there will be more wrecks. This is stated as a no prep race tho so don’t enter if your tuning skills aren’t up to par. I don’t see all the hate no prep racing is no more or less dangerous then bracket racing if you have people who know what they’re doing. As for the guy who crashed I heard he’s a bracket racer he probably should have been more conservative since he isn’t as experienced in the field of no prep. Also doesn’t help that he didn’t lift his foot until he was damn near already pointed at the wall, total driver error.

There are more wrecks on no prep track events. I would never do that, nothing to prove, and I value my cars to much to put them through that. Leave the no prep to the back side races with alot slower cars. Now there is about probably 100000 or more in damage.

Oh hell yes. I used to bracket race down in Florida in the late 70's. I had a turbocharged 71 camaro. Back then, most folks didn't understand, let alone know, what a tubocharger was. Lol I got away with it for a little over a year. Won a lot of races "sandbagging " lol. Once they realized it was a little more than a "exhaust gas recirculator" as I referred to it, game over, they stuck me in a heads up altered , I didn't stand a chance. Lol

Jan’s left sides were just barely outside of the groove, I think that combined with John wrecking next to him caused him to lose control when he throttled up. He may have just barely been nicked too it’s a tough angle to tell for sure though. This is a No Prep event though something neither of these drivers are used to, on a track properly prepped for the classes they usually run they practically never get squirrely like that.

43:18 looks brutal, but yet just two short weeks later, the EA 500 at Talladega, Elliott Sadler just taps Christin Fittipaudi while trying to leave the pits, while Fittipauldi (the 43 car) was entering his, and spins and takes out 3 crew members, one in particular, gets thrown in mid-air and lands hard on the ground, and nearly gets hit by Sadler in the process, in a caution pit-stop at that.

I really liked Fox and NBC doing the Daytona 500 from 2001-2006 in alternating years. It really made the 500 bigger than it already was, and NBC’s last Daytona 500 was and is the highest rated Daytona 500 in history, I believe the 2012 500 is the second highest rated. Also, the 06 Spring Martinsville Race is infamous for NBC doing a Dateline special with their hire-ups dressing as Arab’s I believe? To get a reaction from NASCAR fans, but it backfired big time, and NASCAR rightly didn’t like it. And it took them 9 years to finally make piece with NBC.
