Which variety is this if you don't mind my asking? Also, since this was 5 years ago, have you switched to a more modern variety?

Jim they are Lapaz pintos. We still plant some of these along with some newer varieties.

@@mtnaddict4907 Interesting! I just looked these up they look like a good variety. I am in Manitoba and am looking to get into these beans. Need very early maturing and good stand ability for direct harvest like this.

Hennie we use no crop lifters. We like direct cutting over other methods. There is some tricks for success with direct cutting like variety, narrow row width, use a roller after seeding, macdon with air bar best head we have found, wide head and go slow to keep combine full and sickle cutting them off good, etc. The majority of farmers here have switched over to direct cutting in the last 5 years very few left knifing or pulling. The cutting or pulling requires deeper tilliage before seeding to loosen ground, cultivation during growing season to hill them up for cutting, and then harvesting the combine takes in much more dirt all these operations cost lots of money and wear and tear that we feel isn't offset with enough extra beans.

What plant density do your use. Is it the same as wide rows. Seeds per acre

Hi. Do you use the beans for seed also? If yes how sensistive are the beans to physical damage regarding germination ? THanks and best regards

@@hennievermooten9289 we usually seed the pintos at 85,000 and blacks at 105,000 in 22" rows.

do you run it with crop lifters. and how does it compare with pulled beans, pods left on the ground?

that throttle response looks amazing, must be the power of the draw through set up.
