Lovely looking bind off. How would I do this in the round?
@knitreliefdesigns6 күн бұрын
This can be done in the round, just knit the last round then follow the same steps for binding off. Thanks for watching!

If you are going to slip those two stitches back on the left needle, why slip them off at all? Why not just go straight to purling behind them?
@knitreliefdesignsАй бұрын
Great question - in this case when we slip the stitches, the stitches will face a different direction so that when we do purl behind, the stitches are leaning nicely to the left (when viewed from RS).
@knitreliefdesignsАй бұрын
we can test this by doing a "purl 2 together thru back loop" and comparing it to this "slip slip purl" decrease, and see which decrease is preferred for the project at hand. It all depends on the project at hand, and there is usually more than one way to accomplish decreases/increases etc. Thanks for watching!

Just started pattern. Very enjoyable. Did change the starting CO 5 to be CO 2 then k2 turn 5x. With 2 st on needle, yo, pick up 1 st in center ridge, yo, pick up 2 st on end of tab = 7. Now work per pattern

The stitch you are crossing over: does it matter whether you do it from the back or from the front of the stitch? I noticed that you alternated (on the third row). Looks like a two-row repeat instead of a four-row repeat, unless I just missed something? Third row same as first, fourth row same as second? (I consider myself a beginning knitter.)
@knitreliefdesigns4 ай бұрын
Hi! Crossing from the front creates a right-leaning twist (RT), crossing from the back creates a left-leaning twist (LT). On Row 1 we begin with a RT, and on Row 3 we begin with a LT. So, it is a 4-row repeat since they are not the same. This is what creates the honeycomb shape. Thanks for a great question!

What is the use of fake stitch and where and when it is made
@knitreliefdesigns5 ай бұрын
It can be used to prevent a garment from twisting when knit in the round. It is made on each side of a sweater, in the same place as a true seam would be.

@@knitreliefdesigns so which should I do K3tog or SKP
@knitreliefdesigns6 ай бұрын
To make it left-leaning do an SK2P, to make it right-leaning do a K3TOG. I think it would look nice with a K3TOG, so try that.

It looks beautiful &easy. Curios if you would use this on a toe up sock cuff? It seems like it has enough stretch and it doesn’t seem to flare out. Thanks for sharing!

Yes you can!
@evelynwald91326 ай бұрын
@@knitreliefdesignsI did try this on my toe up sock cuff with 2 x2 ribbing. Trying to grab that backward yarn over became a challenge, which included dropping stitches. Not sure if it was due to my needle size (2.5mm steel circular) or my yarn (likes to split), but in the time it took you to do 10 stitches, I would get one or two, LOL. I still have the second sock to do, so I will try again. You are a skilled knitter❤

Japanese knitting stitch patterns look so sophisticated and elegant. I have a Japanese stitch pattern book that I bought long ago and really love to use those patterns in various projects. I also have a sock knitting book of Eastern knitting designs and the socks knitted from that book are unique and beautiful.
