Inspiring work as always, Tom. As someone who does a lot of refinishing, I am impressed and intrigued by the notion of doing the necessary repairs while leaving the antique patina unfettered and intact.

I love how these chairs turned out. I was holding my breath while you were applying glue and finish after the new weave was installed. But, I should have had more faith! Lovely work by a master craftsman.

Excellent job once again Tom, I'm glad you chose not to refinish it, it looks perfect with your sympathetic restoration. I've worked on pieces with a warp, and found out that trying to correct it only results in something else being affected down the line. You never know what kind of conditions the box has lived in, most likely a modern, hermetically sealed, air conditioned and heated home, which is hard on antique wooden pieces. Keep the excellent videos coming, I look forward to more like this.

Well thar ya go went to GOODWILL ( WHO PUT THE GOODWILL IN GOODWILL I GUESS WILL DID ).had a bunch of tablet desk for sale. Also tell ur daughter PORTLAND got crazier today..a long story with no shorts on at pioneer square...

I bet the mystery opening on the side of the desk was for a secret compartment to store important papers etc. It does have what you described as hinge marks. I have a couple pieces with hidden compartments. What a beautiful restoration!

Slow and steady wins the race! 😊 in a video, do you think you could explain why you don't always remove all of the finish and stain? And why keep the molding when it looks like it's on its last leg!? Instead of replacing the moldings with new wood!❤
