J’adore! I was so lucky to live with one for 14 years after he was found on the street, too. He literally save my life. These dogs are so unique. Heartwarming to see your bondage with this furry wonder on 4 feet. 😍

Our recent shelter adoption is a 3yr old Anatolian Shepherd. About 110-120 lbs. 4 weeks in and he is warming up to my wife but still hates my guts. 100% does not trust yet. Being able to pet the dog featured here, put a leash on this dog, see this dog actually move toward you at all is still a long distant future milestone for me. It's as though all of these worst case scenario fearful dog training videos that I've been watching, from so many different people with different dogs, feature dogs who are just starting kindergarten. Meanwhile I've got an infant who's just not yet ready for even the most basic interactions with me. These kindergarten beginning level demonstrations are still too advanced for him. Leash work would be AWESOME, but he has tried to bite my hand for simply offering pieces of hot dog in a calm quiet way without direct eye contact, and sitting on the ground turned sideways to him. Even THAT was too much, too close, too soon. "Just be patient" is what everyone says. I know, I know. Frustrating though.

Hi I hope you are doing well just wondering how is bundle now is she still alive? Also I couldn’t find her day one training video.

Oh sure pat my feral on the head I'd be chewed up. Where are the videos of dogs that behave like an alligator about to attack your hand and growls if u get a few feet away....No collar can't put one on.im lost. This one may end up in a no kill rescue.

This is several years ago. She is still with me, and doesn't often let me out of her sight. She has become a top agility dog, and talented trick dog as she enjoys all forms of clicker training. All dogs are different. Not all dogs benefit by the same form of training. Bundle is very special. She is nothing like any of my other dogs. And she would never end up anywhere as any dog I take is for life.

Even though this dog was found "in the wild", she does not seem feral if you can work w/her like that after only 12 days. Fearful yes, feral no. She seems more like a dog who used to have a home at some point, and just either learned to be fearful from the home she ran away from, or from having to survive outside.
@qwhizzkid3 жыл бұрын
Yes, she was born 'in the wild' into a feral pack on the outskirts of a town in the countryside. The whole pack of around 28 dogs were caught. None of the dogs had had contact with humans. It was quite a big story in the news. The story was followed and reported by an association that deals with situations such as this here in France (You may have heard of the Bridgit Bardot trust) . She was approx 10 months at the time she was caught. All the dogs were put into kennels and then fostered. Bundle was fostered for three weeks before I had her. For those 3 weeks she was tethered on a long line in a walled garden. I first heard about her from an advert in the news asking who would take a dog that you couldn't touch. She is not a fearful dog but very suspicious by nature. She is extremely smart and I put her success down to that, and how quickly she could work with a clicker. So no, she had never had a home, and she was indeed feral. I am still the only one that can really handle her, and she is still quite difficult (but really loved )

What a great video. It seems that Bundle is slowly learning to trust you. I think shes glad to have time out of the cage. It seems you are treating her gently with love and respect and that she is picking up on that.

What do you do if the dog is so feral she will not allow you to touch her??
@qwhizzkid5 жыл бұрын
I create the possibility of touch, but the dog making a choice . Reward very small behaviours that go in that direction. Bundle is very smart. She works stuff out quickly.

there are a couple of feral dogs that have been adopted into our neighbourhood and they are hot messes. (I don't mean the relatively happy little strays from Mexico or wherever - these dogs are COMPLETELY puzzled by the entire human thing and are just dying to get off leash and back into the woods.) Nothing motivates them.

Hi. I know this video is six years old, but I have been watching Bundle's journey from the first video and I have tears of happiness in my eyes to see her initiating play indoors and running around with her tail high in the air!

Love this video ! To see the difference from the first video when you first got her is just amazing. I just rescued a puppy mill dog that’s never been touched, unless the breeder was grabbing her by the neck. She’s only six pounds and won’t even eat turkey or any food that most dogs are tempted by. She’s just too scared. I have no idea how to help her. This video gives me hope for her. You are so very gifted. Thank you for posting this.

Thank you. Bundle has been with me now for over 5 years. She is still difficult to touch, but I always encourage and reward her touching me so she has lots of control , and no force. I have different methods, and have helped many wild and nervous dogs. Some of them take a very long time. They are worth it ! Bundle has been a very rewarding dog, but she isn't cuddly, and is still 'blocked' in many ways. However, she's happy and competes in agility (recently qualified for Crufts) and is a very 'big' member of our family.

i was able to tame a very wild feral cat. after 2 years she totally accepted me petting and picking her up but still she never wanted to sleep in the house. sadly she passed away 2 years ago. my second experiment after a year now she chose to live in the house during winter full time and is very well behaved but still doesnt allow me to touch or pick her up but she sometimes rub against me and sleep on my bed which is fine. I always wondered how it is to tame a feral dog so i really enjoy your bundle videos. well documented and a bit touching. Thank you for posting.

I adopted a feral German Shepherd mix and she wouldn't even take food from my hand, I gradually just laid it on the floor, like a trail to her food. She bonded with my other dogs very quickly. Human touch was a lot of patience. We gave her two months now and she loves me but tolerates my husbands touch. I don't tiptoe around her nor do I show aggressive behavior towards her. She loves her walks.

Why don't you just pin it down and then hold it against you all day long and get a longer leash and then put your hand right on her mouth and then pin her down again

thank you so much for posting this and the very early days! i have just adopted a feral dog. i've taken in strays & abandoned dogs in the past but this is a whole new level of naivety. i knew that she would be fearful and would not want to be touched or looked at. but i am suprised that things that really are exclusive to the human environments for dogs - like the sound of kibble in a bowl -- mean nothing to her. i have to build every association that would have been built just by growing up with humans. we spent the first three days getting a halter on her. i have to teacher her to climb the stairs because she cries when she's alone (howling). i had to sleep on the couch last night so she could sleep!

I agree completely with Dakota Berlinger below. This is an awful video of how to treat a poor feral dog on her first day. Read the guidelines for working with a feral dog from Best Friends Sancturary in Utah US. bestfriends.org/resources/feral-dogs-and-shy-dogs-how-help-them You will quickly see you did everything wrong. Very sad.

I really dont mean to offend but like... you are doing so many things wrong... and you point it out in the video, yet you keep doing it? does she not respond to food at all for treat based training? She is showing signs of anxiety like you said but you continue to make her feel uncomfortable, and on her first day. She needs time to settle before you begin pulling her around. Remember what her life was like before your home.
@qwhizzkid3 жыл бұрын
Fortunately I think the proof is there, that this was the way forward for her. Food based training only works when stress levels are low enough, and if you know anything about feral, you can't 'buy' them with food. As my previous comment: she has become a top international agility dog and talented trick dog. I am still the only one that she really responds to. She had stress at the start yes. But my assessment of her was not of a nervous or timid dog, but just a suspicious dog. This was why this form of training was best for her.

How difficult is it to train dogs to "assist" etc with different things not agility but around house as support even just emotional?
@dee60757 жыл бұрын
I ask because I have Fibromyalgia and other conditions and find my dogs a support untrained. My local government says I have one too many dogs, I have 3, and I'm trying to find ways to train them to prove that I need them , plus without serious training none of them would go to another family. I have had them since birth. Trying to train them , but finding it too intensive or difficult or expensive with all together with my disability. I have no problem with them, they are fine with my teen & adult children, tolerate my ex but dislike other dogs and people. I am mostly housebound

Did you tried giving milk instead of meat when touching? Milk makes you a mom, triggers good memories of safety and love.
@laboleta58638 жыл бұрын
The dog didn't turned rebel when you touched it in the cage. Quite the contrary, he took the touch as a warning bite telling him that the food and the cage is your property, and you warned him to respect your property. So, he refused to get in the cage to show respect to you. He couldn't tell the difference between an aggressive territorial warning and your touch.
