Hear, hear! Bluesound Nano can be wirelessly connected to the Bluesound Pulse Sub+ subwoofer. Sub+ working just fine wirelessly with Bluesound Powernode and Powernode Edge streaming amplifiers and with a pair of Bluesound Pulse M aktive speakers. And yes, prices for speaker stands are to d... high. Nice review!

The most important audio components are source components. The quality of the musical signal coming out of this first component defines the ultimate ability of any stereo system. Every other component in the system merely passes on this signal with greater or lesser accuracy. None can enhance or improve it Is any reason why you avoid looking at us ? How do you control sound waves bouncing of the floor and the walls in your listening room I own the Rotel RB-158 MK. 2. Stereo Power Amplifier 200 Watts per channel
@AV-Obsessed
@AV-Obsessed 2 күн бұрын
I would argue that the speakers make the biggest difference in sound quality and the quality of the source is second, within reason, obviously if the source is absolute garbage then the sound of the rest of the system will be garbage as wall but I'm talking about a minimum quality source device of something like the WiiM Mini which puts out good enough quality that you would need pretty decent speakers to hear it's deficiencies. Also I have a hard time looking directly at the camera because I have a blind spot in the center of my vision.

Recently, I bought both a 2.1 system (WiiM amp, Kef Q150, SVS SB2000 Pro) and a Sonos Arc Ultra with Sub 4 to do a direct comparison and pick a system a wanted to build from. I ended up returning all my Sonos products as I found in nearly all cases I preferred my 2.1 system. But I get why people just buy Sonos because it was just easy and sounds good. I just know my 2.1 system can be much better (like by getting a better amp). Also, really like the recommendation for WiiM Ultra and BasX. Think I will do that for my next upgrade!

The proliferation of inexpensive D class amps is good for audio consumers because the competition is forcing Rotel and other reputable amp designers to compete in this price range. It will ultimately lower amp prices across all price ranges. This nice A8 amp is a response to the cheapo D class junk challenge. Watts per channel is often misleading to the consumer. An amp can be specd at higher wattage simply by measuring output at higher distortion levels. A rotel amp with the following specs: 200 watts x 2 channels into 8 ohms at 0.008% distortion is a much better amp then another amp listed as 200 watts at 0.1% distortion. When comparing amps if both play at equal distortion levels into 8 ohms than an increase in watts from 50 to 100 watts per channel will only increase loudness (sound pressure) by about 3.5 decibels. The colloquial term head room is very subjective if quantification of distortion is not factored in. The point of all this blather is a 30 or 50 watt amp can sound fantastic in most situations, provided it handle the resistance of the speaker. I have a luxman amplifier from the late 80s that has ~ 50 watt output with negligible distortion. It can play speakers plenty loud and sounds fantastic. The only time it incurred difficulties was pairing it to two JBL HDI-3800s and cranking the volume. I trust Rotel and hope to buy a new amp sometime soon.

I have a 60 watt Rotel power amplifier and preamplifier that I bought in 1994 they are still going strong. I also had a Rotel CD player and it no longer really works. Skipping a lot. And the technician said he couldn’t fix it.
@rayr4320
@rayr4320 2 күн бұрын
If the CD player accepts the disc smoothly and doesnt make any noise when disc is spinning, then the laser is likely going bad or the lens is gunked up. Pop the hood and observe the disc spin. If everything is spinning smoothly then it's likely the laser. If things are noisy you may have to grease the gears. Next clean the laser eye gently. Or replace the laser. Rotel has used different laser manufacturers like Phillips and Toshiba. They often can be purchased for about 20-25 bucks new. But it has to be the correct model. You can do it!

I think 450. For a 30wpc amp as is a great deal! I think towers would be a good start point - usually easier to drive than book shelf speakers. Definately agree that a solid dac w/ multible imputs / outputs would allow for a greater flexability for system building and improved sound. Things are so much better in audio now that it would be difficult to go far wrong on any budget.

I own a 5.1 set of the ELAC Uni-fi 2.0 series, floorstanders, center, S10.2 Bash-powered sub and bookies (as surrounds) and am quite happy with them, though the KEF's here sound offer better definition and refinement at several times the price. Hard not to notice the better bass extension on the Debut 3.0's than the KEF Q Concerto's. Seems to be a theme with KEF's that don't offer the same kind of bass extension relative to other competitors, though I do prefer the KEFs for their precision on top. Something ELAC speakers lack at the lower price point lines. ELAC's tend to roll off, are more relaxed on the higher registers, and are never fatiguing. KEF's floorstanders are a bit out of my price range, as I've college-aged daughters to consider. By the way, forgive me if I'm insensitive, but do you have vision problems? If not, the lack of eye contact with the camera is a little off-putting.

I do have a vision issue, there is a large blind spot in the center of my vision so I look off to the side so I can see what is in front of me. It is not a problem the way you asked about it, some people are rude about it. Also yeah, the kef's are a big step up but don't do it unless you have the disposable income to spend on them, especially if you are happy with what you have.

@@AV-Obsessed Appreciate the thoughtful response, my friend. Also grateful for the time you've taken to offer sound comparisons, something other channels rarely do. I've an acquaintance who mirrors my sentiments on KEF loudspeakers, namely that the cost-to-benefit ratio doesn't necessarily justify a purchase, unless you love their signatures and have limitless resources to heave at them. My friend ended up returning the KEF Q7 Meta's for a set of ELAC Vela 407 floorstanders. The resolution and detail of these are incredible. True 30 Hz - 50 kHz extension w/what ELAC engineers in Kiel, Germany refer to as Jet 6, a well-designed ribbon tweeter with relaxed detail. All I can say about KEF is that their engineers either don't care for bass extension in their designs or are pushing their subwoofer sales. In fairness, I am aware KEF offers sub-40 Hz in their R series floorstanders, but I've yet to hear them.

Not Sure what the full specs are but high current old school power amps like Adcom, BK and Carver among others with their wattage listing vs performance was impressive. High Current makes a big difference driving difficult power hungry speakers.
@AV-Obsessed
@AV-Obsessed 7 күн бұрын
Yeah, the "High Current" amps usually just meant that the transformer was capable of much more current that the amp should be able to draw from it which meant the power it did draw was cleaner and gave the amp more headroom. Definitely contributed to better sound and I think now day all good quality amps do it this way so it is not an advertised feature anymore because it is more of a standard.

For the "missing a subwoofer out" crowd, using Sewell's piggyback banana posts, you could use high level out assuming the sub you're using supports it. You could make a mess of it and use Sewell's piggyback connectors heading into that SVS high-level to low-level converter boxes to feed powered subs without high level inputs. Also, I agree that skipping a sub out is bad. Even Yamaha's A-S301 supports a sub out.
