I collect vintage speakers and individual drivers. Lightweight paper cones with the ridges in the cone often sound better to my ears with drums and lower midrange than similar drivers with smooth cones. Especially at higher volumes. I assume it's because of the extra rigidity it adds without adding weight to the cone. It might not look cool, but it works

As an owner of the RP-15M, I strongly suggest investigating the issues with Klipsch powered speakers. The internal amps have lots of failures, and if you intend to keep your speakers for many years, buy unpowered speakers and use an external amp. The internal boards are covered with epoxy and goop that make them almost impossible to repair.

Haven’t heard the JBLs. I own 1st gen Klipsch. Take the drivers out and line the inner cabinet with sound deadening and 1inch foam. Huge upgrade. Bigger tighter bass, and all around cleaner sound. Amazon have them for $275. Unbeatable value after the upgrade.

Hey pal, great review! New subscriber here! Would you consider reviewing anything from CerwinVega! ? A good start would be there new LA 165. It’s on sale right now with free shipping and there is 10% off codes available. It’s a great speaker for the price, and I think it would get you lots of views. 👍🏻

The JBL speakers definitely sound more realistic. They probably sound very close to the Elac Debut Reference 6.2 which is also - guess what - sold at the same price, $699 at Crutchfield. Thanks for the video.

I have very defining demands on treble, and midrange performance being specifically tube powered in light of such poor present day recording, and mastering. Levels and compression are beyond stupid, and there’s way too much darn screaming going on into those poor microphones. Present-day music is, for lack of a better word, complete horse-💩. Sad, but unfortunately true.

…..I, at this point, don’t particularly care for either one. The Klipsch, imo can only be tamed by tube amplification, its heightened sensitivity has it screaming almost all the time. The quality at these inflationary times is woefully unbalanced away from consumers, to the point where I know building my own and going bi-amp/electronic crossover will get me the high-end performance I know I really want. For example, Paradigm Persona B, but nowhere near $8 grand.

100% you do you! For me though, sitting with them both hooked up to the same receiver switching back and fourth between the two I like the JBL sound better. I do admit the Klipsch is easier to drive because of their higher efficiency.

Great new channel nice work . I agree and I dont think its really that close in my opinion the jbl at current discounts I believe is a best buy depending on the color. I have tried most of the usual suspects in the 3-700 dollar range and those are some of my favorites. I have not heard the 12.2 (225 I have) or the magnat 503s probably the only two in this range. Thar bamar and erins audio corner did reviews both positive overall. I think when people glance at erins review they dont listen to the whole review he was mostly saying they were inferior to the hdi series and those are 2000 or were a pair.

Beating the RP-600M II is a tall order. I can say the SVS Ultras certainly do beat the Klipsch. You are comparing a new JBL speaker priced at 399.95 with the 649 Klipsch. JBL's 5 1/4 with a 6 1/2. Even Klipsch RP-500 II are 499, that would have you within 100 dollars difference. Do you have thoughts on this new JBL with the Stage a130 predecessor ?
@AV-Obsessed5 күн бұрын
I always knew that beating the Klipsch RP-600M II was nearly impossible for the smaller, cheaper JBL's but I was just hoping it might be possible. Also I have no experience with the older JBL Stage A Series.

Dunno why you'd compare these the price point and size are so different... The Studio 630 is much better... It has been reviewed by Tharbamar, Erin's Audio Corner, Cheap Audioman, Audio Advice, Andrew Robinson, New Record Day, Audioholics, among so many others... Plus JBL made it clear that these were designed for young people on a budget to get into home theater and to pair with their MA receivers.... I own the Studio 530 and it wipes the floor with both of these.... But thanks for your honest impressions and keep going

How is it for movies compared to SVS sb3000?
@AV-ObsessedАй бұрын
I don't have an SB-3000 but I do have an SB-4000 and even though the SB-4000 is a great sub compared to most it almost sounds like a one note wonder in comparison to the REL. The SVS provides a lot of deep slam while the REL seems to provide punchier basee across a wider rage.
