Thinking about installing two 5P batteries and the controller inside the house. Can anyone tell me the ambient temperature generated (per battery) and the decibels (db) generated?
@enphase_anz
@enphase_anz Ай бұрын
1. IQ Batteries do have an ambient operating temperature range of -20 degC to +55 Deg C. In terms of the actual temperature generated, this is not a data point supplied in the product information. However, having worked with, (and living with!) many IQ Batteries, these have no detectable temperature gain. 2. There is no sound produced by the IQ Batteries. This is because there are no moving parts in an IQ battery (many products have fans, and the IQ Batteries do not require cooling fans). I also suggest talking to your installer for their recommendations for a suitable location. For example, installations here in Australia, no battery can be installed within habitable areas of a house.

Have 30 IQ7A panels. My A/C is 3phase 28kw Cap Heat.12.1current. 8.24 input. O/night consumption varies50-80 kwh. Can I use Batteries ?
@enphase_anz
@enphase_anz 2 ай бұрын
Hi Ken , Enphase IQ Batteries can be used to offset consumption for any appliance in the home. Enphase IQ Batteries can reduce the cost of purchasing electricity by using them to power your home's energy consumption for all three phases when the main AC, grid is available. The key to getting the design correct for your requirements is having enough solar to cover your daytime loads, as well as enough solar excess generated by your solar panels to charge the number of IQ batteries you have installed in the home. I recommend talking to the installer of your original Enphase system to get a system design undertaken for IQ Batteries.

Why only IP55 rated? If mounted outside, should be IP65 rated. IP55 is only dust resistant and mildly water resistant, not water proof. Allan
@enphase_anz
@enphase_anz 2 ай бұрын
Hi Allan, That's correct - the Enphase IQ Battery 5P is IP55 rated. Anything higher than IP44 is suited for outdoor use. Products like IQ Microinverters are IP67 rated as they are permanently enclosed by a double insulated, corrosion-resistant polymer housing. There are 6 x IQ8BAT Microinverters factory fitted inside the IQ Battery 5P. The IQ Battery 5P is designed to be serviceable on the side of your home, so the cover can be removed by your solar installer in the event of an unlikely fault. You can learn more about the IP ratings here: clarionuk.com/resources/ip-ratings/

I use the app to track my solar production throughout the year and switch my pool equipment timer to ensure that it’s aligned. A pool pump is can chug through a lot of electricity. The app is well designed and the UI is fairly easy to understand.

Unfortunately, the IQ8 microinverters for the REC 420Watt solar panels are not available in Australia so the lower power IQ7 were used. This reduced my power output by 1kW on a 6.7kW system!! Very disappointing.
@enphase_anz
@enphase_anz 2 ай бұрын
Hi John, due to the way microinverters work, you will get more output from your solar array every day. The IQ7X Microinverters are a perfect choice for your REC 420-watt panels. Enphase recommends this combination. The recently released REC Alpha Pure-RX solar panels have a higher power rating, and therefore we recommend IQ8X Microinverters.
@JohnTate-lt2lh
@JohnTate-lt2lh 2 ай бұрын
@@enphase_anz Thanks for your reply. The REC 420AA Pure-R have a max output of 420Watts. The IQ7X have a peak power output of 320VA. The IQ8 have a peak power output of 384VA, which I was initially quoted, allow more output. Unfortunately, just prior to installation, the installation company discovered that you do not supply to IQ8 to Australia to match the REC higher wattage panels. If I had known beforehand, I would have changed my solar panels to match.

I would like to have a way to produce a visual cue for my family (who are not willing to log into the Enphase app) to know that enough solar is being produced to start the dishwasher or electric dryer for example. Something as simple a green light that comes on near the dryer when the excess solar is above a threshold I can set. Is this possible? Thank you for this series it is very helpful.
@davidcottee2808
@davidcottee2808 2 ай бұрын
It is possible. Depends how good you are with computers. Home Assistant is a home automation setup which can extract the data from the Envoy and from there you can set up triggers for various actions. I have setup a Raspberry Pi running a programme called EnphaseCollector, which gives a webpage interface that can be accessed from anywhere on your network, e.g. continuously on a tablet. It has a useful dial format showing production and consumption. It can also be run on a Mac. Unfortunately there is no integration with Google Home or Alexa. There is a way to extract the data yourself from the envoy, but requires programming skills with python or similar.

I'm having such a hard time finding the right answer to my questions regarding an Enphase installation. Maybe you could answer? I basically would like to know if I can connect 3 single phase Q relays one on each phase of a three phase system? We have many houses here that have 3 phase feeds but it seems the enphase 3 phase system is marketed as a commercial product only.
@enphase_anz
@enphase_anz 2 ай бұрын
Hi Kevin, Enphase supplies 1phase (Q-RELAY-1P-INT), and also 3phase IQ Relays (Q-RELAY-3P-INT) for installation in microinverter circuits for solar grid connected installations. Either of these products can be used in 1phase or multiphase applications. However, we do recommend using the 3P IQ Relays in three phase sites , as these manage the microinverters across phases, and enable compliance to AS/NZS4777.2 for multiphase site requirements.

You can find this data on the Enphase App. From the homepage, click Menu, System, Devices, then click Battery, click the 'Limited Warranty' link. There it will tell you the discharge cycle count. If you have more than one IQ Battery 5P, you can check for each individual with the same method.

How do they protect from backfeed when the mains go down, the blokes working on the outside line so they don’t get a shock from somebody up flow using solar, there cannot be an automatic shut off as the solar tricks it to think there is 230 volts from somewhere and staying open.?????? It confuses me how they arrange it.

Products that are grid connected and backup the home must be approved and tested to AS/NZS regulations. In the IQ Battery System with IQ System Controller, there is a certified approved smart contactor that opens and therefore disconnects the house from the AC main grid, so that the Enphase System can continue to backup the home with 230V AC power. This certifed protection is called the Microgrid Interconnect Device (MID).

Hey, don't want to be that guy, but I noticed that drain wire should have some heatsink applied, could short something out in there, same applies for the transition from the outer sheath to the cores, got some foil exposed. Thanks for the video. I have an older enphase system that was installed 4 years ago, before some of the newer regulations came into place. My system does not have a Q Relay installed. Given that the inverters themselves are compliant to AS 4777 standards, is there an additional requirement to install the Q Relay? My understanding is that each inverter already has the grid disconnect functionality built in as per the 4777 requirements. I'm just interested to see if my existing install is compliant. Thanks for taking the time to reply , if you do.

The Q-Relay is a mechanical disconnection requirement for installations using IQ microinverters for ANZ. If you have earlier versions of microinverters: S-series or M-series, then this Q-relay is not required.
