Thank you Steve! I have these in a BearPaw Wilderness Designs LaGarita 3, a GoLite SL-5, and I'm getting ready to put one in a Big Agnes Gold Camp 5. I'm going to seam seal with high temperature silicone caulk mixed 50:50 by volume with mineral spirits. This mix is probably the same stuff used to make the stove jack..

Is there a certain thread pattern to use? I am a newbie to sewing all together but just bought one of your stove jacks to sew into a SJK outpost 4 tipi tent to use in Montana.

My Lair is still going. After 8 years. I got the Perimeter netting sewn in and my only regret was not getting the tub floor integrated

I've installed two stove jacks using this technique and a BearPaw stove jack in two different tents, of course. This is, by far, the best tutorial and technique I've seen. Thanks so much for posting it. Still relevant after 9 years!!!

Hi John. What would the approx weight be of the current 1.5 same tent shape with the thicker dyneema option as the floor and the bathtub extension at four edges.
@copperinquarter3 жыл бұрын
What a terrible design. Have fun doing that with a real tent and not just a small piece of fabric. Also this design allows for tons of water to come in. Do not do this to your tent. There are way better methods.

I'd use a Speedy Stitcher to sew it on. You can buy them every where.

I plan to do mine by hand. I have done it before, nothing fancy. I am not good with machines. I hear ya.

Any recommendations on how to cut the hole properly. I’ve heard both cut in a circle and oval depending on who you ask.
@johnstultz89855 жыл бұрын
I normally cut a round hole slightly larger than the pipe diameter. If the stove jack is at a steep angle then you may have to cut the hole to an angle shape. If the stove jack is not at a significant angle then a round hole should be fine.

I'm not thinking it's going to come off this easy with a whole tent your having to flip and flop around. Why doesn't someone just sell a thrifty 4-6 man type dome tent with these things already in? There's got to be a way to communicate this simply in this collective culture of ours yuh think? I'll likely have to just settle for long fires in front of the tent opening because this is too much to ask. To coin an NFL phrase.. c'mon man!

*Perfect lil tent for our children.>>>**nub.best/z6kj** I am only 5'2 so I was a perfect fit for me but my 5'6 husband was a little tight. Very easy set up I did it by myself in 5 minutes. The only thing I do not like about it was that the steaks bent very easy.*

With the back higher than the front wouldn't that cause water to run to the front in a storm. Also how much larger is the bear den1 than the lair?

This is the best design I have seen for installing a stove jack in a tent, I will be ordering one from you for y canvas tent sometime this spring or summer. I have my canvas tent picked out,. I like that it is sewn on the inside. Very well done, thanks for sharing. In this video you say you have two sizes, on the website is shows an extra large, what size if the extra large.? Again, thank you sir and I hope you have a blessed and happy new year. Dale

The sewing example is fine but I find it rather hard to sew an 18x18 tent stove jack from the inside with a sewing machine. It might be possible using a needle and thread and a good day or so to do this. In your example you have a loose piece of tent material which you can easily put in a sewing machine. I would like to see a Youube example where you do this from inside the tent with a machine.
@copperinquarter3 жыл бұрын
Not only would it be hard to do with a sewing machine it would be impossible without cutting the hole first. What a bad video and design. Also it allows for tons of water to come in. I can't believe some people think this is a good design.

I am trying to find a 1/2 bathtub for for my big Agnes tent, formally golite Shangri-la 5, they bought patent ? . can you or anyone steer me in the right direction . I have the inner which is much to heavy and not what I want. I'm turning this into an ultralight hot tent, lite outdoors titanium stove is less than 3lbs, and tent without inner is suitable for ultra light backpacking in winter months. I like the security I get from bathtub floor, and because of size I want to find a 1/2 bathtub floor . any help will be greatly appreciated

Hey John, I'm prepping for a thru hike and wanted to pull the trigger on your Bears Den 2 in the .51 cuben with the extended beak and cuben footprint/net combo. Any idea on weight and cost of a setup like that or maybe in the .74 as well? I'd love to try out your gear and I'm torn between that and a zpacks duplex. Both great companies, but yours seems a lot more customize-able and quicker to order. Thanks sir.
