That route to tree ledge looks like the Block Route. It is NOT 5.4 its a 5.7+ but it is protected fairly well for Stone Mtn with medium stoppers and TCU's

A couple years ago I walked around the fence that closes off the road to the left of the top of the Dam, walked all the way there - past like 100 no trespassing signs, and ended up at the top of the left side of the Dam. As a person who doesn't usually engage in such rule breaking, I felt like I was robbing a bank 😂

@@chadheddleston3702 I just watched it for the first and second time yesterday!! I’m looking for any sort of guidebook that might have info on your FA in it. I want to start planning an attempt at it but the only published info I’ve found is your movie.

This looks more like the result of the belayer ripping the gear out since it stopped right at the cam that in line with him. It seems like a multi-directional first piece would maybe have stopped this from happening. A cam in a vertical crack is not always a reliable first multi-directional placement. Very glad she didnt get hurt or worse. And yes, wear a helmet when climbing AND belaying.

Maybe next time she could at the very least wear a helmet to set the good example for younger climbers?

If you told me that you filmed a real-life avalanche experience, I'd have believed it. Who the heck is holding the camera? Is it dangling from someone's neck?

It doesn’t look like the fall was that far from the last piece, as well as it looking like a relatively large cam? Seems like the biggest mishap was bad gear placements, and not having a brain bucket

Favorite part is the guy filming telling her she needs to unclip and rest for a little. Great advice. People get that adrenaline and think they are fine then they hurt themselves even further. Kudos sir.

She’s lucky her skull didn’t get crushed into pieces. Somebody recently died in my climbing area on a fall much smaller than that because of not wearing a helmet. Glad she gets to look “cool” for her little video tho. Really impressed everyone with your bravery

There IS good gear on that climb. Geez, let's not completely rely on small cams. There are really good nut placements right there. Get skills.
