(for those around the 24-25 minute mark and saw my question: otogiriso is a 1992 visual novel by chunsoft, which got a canonical sequel, kirigiriso, in 2016 which came with the third bluray box set for DR3 in JPN - hence connecting the two and making otogiriso the very first game in the entire danganronpa series. the diatribe i said was meant to attach to the 2017 answer, as anyone would reasonably pick 2010 or even 2008, given Trigger Happy Havoc came out november 2010 and before that the concept DISTRUST was pitched in 2008, but by 2017 danganronpa had been pretty well established. here's some nerd emojis for your troubles: 🤓🤓🤓🤓)

@@DetectiveNyx As a Kirigiriso fan this reasoning doesn't make any sense. Just because there's a game that crosses over Danganronpa with another game doesn't suddenly make it part of the Danganronpa franchise. That's like saying the first Dragon Ball manga is Mr Slump because Mr Slump characters sometimes appear in Dragon Ball. Another thing is it's ambigious how much, if any, of Otogiriso can be considered canon to Danganronpa because some things that happen in Otogiriso aren't mentioned in Kirigiriso.
