I'm on PC so I have acces to both the original PC version and the DE for which I didn't even manage to do a full playthrough. There is a mod that restores all the songs from older version and I thought it would be enough to enjoy it but the atmosphere and art style is completely different and it felt off to me who grew up with the original PC version. Nowadays when I want to replay this game, I play the 2005 PC version with widescreen fix and silentpatch. That's it for me but if you are someone who grew up with the PS2 version, there is a mod that adds the orange filter that you are probably used to. The 2005 PC version is easily the best version to play nowadays on modern hardware. The only downside is that you have to play at 30fps because more than that breaks the physics in various ways but you get used to it very quickly.

How do you not have more subs?! I remember getting Evil Within when it first came out, I enjoyed playing it, but the story was confusing. When, I decided to go through a second time I did get all the collectibles and everything made so much more sense. It's like you said, a lot of info was hidden in those. I could tell that the developers wanted to do more with this game, but maybe they ran out of time. The match mechanic was very satisfying. It's a shame about the frame rate issues, I had the same problem on my play throughs. EW is definitely underrated, a lot of the imagery is very dreamlike and I love that in videos games. I haven't checked out the sequel yet, but you have inspired me to do so soon. :) Thanks!

@@alliefinalestudios7975 If the games popularity can grow a little bit more, we might get lucky and see maybe a remaster. Which I honestly think is pretty much all the game needs, so it can get rid of a lot of the performance issues. I would actually love a tv series or something of the sort, where they could really flesh out the story and bring in new characters etc. I do hope we get a 3rd game at some point but without playing the second game or knowing the ending not sure how it would go, but at least if we had a new character involved and just sorta do what resident evil and silent hill did, and introduce new characters to play as even if their continuity is their own.

@@Karlec46 I agree, some of the more clunky elements need work. The dreamlike quality of the story and visuals would lend itself well to TV. So maybe? Alan Wake had a tv show called Bright Falls, I could see EW being similar. It would be really cool to see a new protagonist in a 3rd game. I guess inly time will tell if the property gets picked up. Do you have any recommendations for any other creative horror games like EW? I've played all the RE games and most of the Silent Hill ones.

@alliefinalestudios7975 I am a massive fan of "The Suffering" still haven't played the sequal and its aged a bit for sure, but I do love the setting, multiple endings and such. A lot more action heavy than a lot of horror games though. Murdered soul suspect is a neat game aswell. Not a 10 out of 10 but a good change of a pass being a horror mystery. A cute Resi style game is Nightmare of Decay. Only a little indie game but worth playing. Obscure is really good and on my list to make a video on. Deadly premonition which is probably the best worst game ever made. Its a trip for sure but its got a lot of charm to it, and I also like a resi style game called cold fear, havent finished it yet but what I have played I enjoyed

I bought these at full price and deleted them to download other games, went back to re download them and it said buy. I already bought them. Wtf. You also delisted the original games which were purchased. I am so seriously upset right now. I sold my physical copies specifically because I had digital ones. Well, apparently, due to foolish governing of digital media, physical discs will always reign Supreme. Whatever man. I mean, san andreas was the only one that played well, 3 was ok and vice city played extremely bad but had some awesome aesthetics. Still. Wow. Anyway. I highly recommend san andreas online, it's free, and has a lot better content than the base trilogy. It's drastically better than gta5 online as well. Drastically better. I just came back to gta 5 online, and, I feel the same way I did in 2012. Gta4 and san andreas as drastically better games. I've lived through the years of the real oldschool runescape times (way back in 2004+ times) so I'd never ever find OSRS attractive. I'm past that era and know how abysmal those grinds can be. Got a 5.8 trim main on rs3, trimmed hcim and gonna try trim my iron and call it a day. Not gonna do gim unfortunately. thats where I draw my line 🙂. As with os, i tried again coz an old friend kinda forced me. But just couldnt do without run energy not depleting as quick, no surge/dive, no teles. no toolbelts, archaic, mostly bots? (tried talking and saying hi, nobody responded ever). Back to rs3 and enjoying my time here.

My take on RS3. I haven't played since 2020 and has my main account permanently deleted through a request. I only play OSRS, but on the 30th, my friends who have never ever played any RS game before are all down to try group ironman in RS3. People don't like change. That is a huge driving factor in any game, whether the game has been around for a long time or a short amount of time. I always loved the first Titanfall and played a lot because I only used the smart pistol. Once they nerfed the smart pistol, I stopped playing. Regardless of change... regardless of the Evolution of Combat still being like WoW and such... the game still keeps the RuneScape feeling overall. The quests are still ACTUAL quests instead of WoW-isque 'kill x of' quests. The humor is still there. Yes - the microtransactions have caused there to be less content overall ever since they came out. Thing is - they made it so ironman accounts cannot use Treasure Hunter. I believe many MMOs would not make that choice and would still monetize off of 'single player locked accounts' with pay-to-win compatible MTX. But, here is the MOST important part of my comment. Both games are their own takes on RuneScape, so I do not believe people should compare the two. You don't like RS3 - fine. You don't like OSRS - fine. You don't like RS in general - fine. You don't think the Chiefs will be the first to a three-win-in-a-row Super Bowl victory - fine. But, there is no reason to compare the two and say one is better than the other. @Karlec - I am not accusing you of this. You did a logical comparison and just stuck to differences instead of using words along the lines of one game being better than the other. I am just saying this towards people who DO say the words along the lines of that. Remember, I stopped playing RS3 for four years - but, when I left - I still felt I was in a RuneScape game in RS3 and I am happy about that. Could be because I stopped playing any other games and switched to Linux - but, regardless - I still like RS3 and OSRS both. EDIT: RS3 does get credit for having full holiday event updates :P

I feel that main issue with people not wanting to get into RS3, is the steep learning curve of the combat system. (And of course, the constant barrage of MTX. Hopefully the MTX survey does something and we see it being abolished in the near future.) It is way more complex than OSRS/Legacy system and not many people want to learn it in-depth, even among the RS3 players. OSRS is just more simple to understand and get into. And with the state of EOC was at release, it left a very bad impression on those who move to OSRS. Which is why you see so many OSRS players just shitting on RS3 constantly, without ever giving RS3 a try ever again. In OSRS, you wear the same gear as the other guy, your DPS are equal. In RS3, that DPS output can be significantly different, depending on how you rotate your abilities. So there is the skill aspect to it. OSRS is more click driven and less APM, while RS3 is more input driven and definitely higher APM. This appeals to different type of players as some are more into active interaction while some are into laidback and slowpaced content. Full customization UI causes a lot of confusion/information overload to new players too as not everything on the screen is essential. (Along with the pretty bad initial UI set by Jagex for new accounts) For all you RS3 haters in the comment, I genuinely urge you to give it a go if you have never played RS3 or quitted over EOC outrage. EOC was bad on release, but it has refined over the years and is rather fun now. Especially now, with Group Ironman coming in 5 days (as of this comment post), just try it out along side with your friends, open your perspective and play the game as intended without the MTX aspect. If you look past the MTX, and put in some effort to learn the EOC combat, i believe you might come to like it too.

RS3 has less content and love put into the game than osrs. As someone who mained rs3 until late 2023 the lack of care/content, and clear focus on the MTX PTW constant treasure hunter promotions ruins the experience. The game's new areas don't even look like runescape anymore, everything looks like playdough. The quests are noticeably worst since mod Raven's departure from the game team. The QoL of rs3 is nice, but it was not enough to keep me engaged in the game after so many fuck ups.

RS3 is a good game. For many OSRS players I would recommend Ironman because most of the MTX is disabled (you can still buy bank spaces but I think it's okay to spend 10-20€ for it). I love both games. For me personally, the early-mid game is better in OSRS. But when it comes to the early end game, RS3 is simply better and has a lot of content that doesn't require you to spend +100 hours laboriously farming Bandos. There are achivments, boss logs, clue farming is possible and with a connection to invention the drops even have a use and therefore value, skills are also very interesting, also the new ones. General collection logs will be coming soon, but that will probably take some time. Overall, I've only been playing RS3 for the last few years. Sometimes I log into OSRS but then I immediately don't want the complicated, extra long grinds, days of game time for 5% more damage and stuff like that.

The main problem with RS3 is its fetish for afk methods that absolutely thrash active methods. That just leaves pvm and landlord mechanics as your primary moneymakers. It gets to the point where all you do is log in, collect your dailies then afk for 8 hours at your skill of choice. Yes, this is optimal play.
@Karlec46
@Karlec46 12 күн бұрын
Yeah I feel as I played more after getting this video out that's a fair criticism with the afk stuff. It does reward being more interactive to an extent, but it doesn't do enough to make you want to actively do it the entire time. I didn't touch on that enough in the video for sure.
@karvis386
@karvis386 11 күн бұрын
I have to disagree on this. The RS3 team balance on 3 design principles when it comes to skilling content. Money making, XP rate and how AFK it can be. And I would say it is done well in the balancing for most content. Ignoring the MTX methods such as Proteans or skilling stations, most skills have a wide range of choice between AFK and active, and usually the active ones are higher XP/hr. Example, building the fort has the choice of full afk or partial, which affects cost/xp and xp/hr. The XP is great, but the cost is heavy. Then there's prawn broker, fully active, less costly and better XP/hr than partial afk fort. Most of the RS3 players leans towards AFK and moneymaking since earning XP are already generous due to BXP being handed out through MTX and DXP being so often, at 4 times a year. If anything, the 1 peeve i have playing RS3 for so long is that there's a lot of time limited events going on, along with bunch of dailies. Wilderness Flash event, Warbands, Goebie Supply Run, etc. Its forcing you to come online or lose out.

AFK as much as some if not most don't like it, and thats fair, its up to the player to decide how they want to player in that case. Sometimes when I play, I let it AFK while working on videos, other times I am way more involved. The game could do a better job to reward being active though for sure.

A small note to bring up for bonds and membership. Bond prices might be higher in Runescape 3 than OSRS but acquiring gp tends to be easier in RS3. So while I think its still harder to acquire a bond in RS3, it isnt a huge drastic difference. Also with membership, if you have membership on one game, you can use the same account to play on OSRS with membership too. Sidenote. As primarily a RS3 player, seeing the gut reaction of people disliking RS3 from this video feels little disheartening. You mentioned somethings you found to be positive and negative about the game in a fair and kind way I believe. There are plenty of criticism you can give RS3 that is totally justified(as you can find other things to criticize OSRS over too). It seems like a good chunk of the OSRS playerbase doesnt want to give RS3 a shot and still want to just call it bad.
@Karlec46
@Karlec46 12 күн бұрын
People have their preferences for sure, and I think writing one of the two games off just because of that is unjustified. I think they are both extremely solid games, even if at the end of the day I prefer oldschool overall, I do bounce between both in my spare time of late for a reason. RS3 is a lot more of a modern MMO and it has its place, where as OSRS is that old MMO style that a lot of people still like playing. I wouldn't let it get you down, cause you are allowed to enjoy what you enjoy. I know a few comments here have complained about player base/numbers etc. But as a giant Starcraft 2 nerd in Australia, I am used to playing online games with maybe a few hundred if not low thousands of other players at best. Doesn't mean its a bad game, just means its not to everyone's tastes. A lot of people are overly negative in the space which is why I always try to give the games I play the benefit of the doubt. Which is why I have the taking out the trash series and even if I don't like every game I play on it, I can still see why some people would. Only game I got upset at was GTA SA DE, and I still think it has something there under the surface, but its not as good as the original releases.

I've since made a new hardcore ironman account for my first RS3 experience, and since it's halloween, I was able to AFK FULLY all the way to 75 summoning and 74 prayer. I could if I really wanted to AFK basically near full archaeology all the way to 99, since the EXP is so much better than the AFK summoning.
