Just ran across this video and must say: Hats off to you for this repair! Every time I tried to take apart one of those Xfmr's, it seemed impossible to get the core apart! Would be interesting to know if the scope still worked after this 10 years have past. I have a SB-610 (?) Heathkit monitor scope that has the HV open but I may just try to use a HV strobe PS to keep from rewinding the Xfmr! If I lived by you, I'd bring it by--LOL!! 73...

Your Heathkit SB-610 definitely sounds like it is worth repairing. I wish you good luck with it. Maybe setup a search on eBay for a Transformer kit? My Hameg scope still works. But I have to admit to mainly using a couple of modern Digital scopes now.

Twoja poprzednia wiadomość Hello Nick I am asking for help with starting the mover Powrtouch. Serial number E80A1700637337. When I connect the cable to the remote control (hand set), everything works. I cannot pair the remote control with the control panel. When turned on, the red light flashes 5 times and stays on together with the green light. I press the reset button on the control box and nothing happens. but when i press it while turning on and hold red light flashing 5 times and it starts flashing continuously. I cannot pair the remote with the control box.I don't know if the device is broken or I can't operate it.I tested the handset and there is a 434 Mhz signal .Please help!!!

Hi Nick do you still do repairs? I came across your informative video whilst trying to diagnose problems with mine. I have the identical board. When it works it's fine. But it works intermittently. I've checked all connections and the battery is new and giving full voltage. Sometimes it powers up. Sometimes it doesn't.

Hi Ni sorry to bother you but I'm trying to get a replacement handset the same as you where working on in the video powrtouch any ideas ?? Thanks for any help appreciated
@NickNorton Жыл бұрын
Your question is interesting. I don't recall the Handset to Control unit being encrypted. You had to pair a unique code first. But it wasn't a rolling code, changing all the time. I'm sure it was just bog standard 433MHz manchester encoded Transmitter/Receiver modulation. Trivial for an Arduino with a 433MHz Transmitter module. BUT you'll still need to know it's control codes. I'm not helping sorry.... Set up a search on eBay/Facebook marketplace for Powertouch Remote. If I still had access to the unit(s) It would be an interesting hack for sure.

@@NickNorton CHEERS Nick for that but I'm not that up on that kind of stuff, at 82 and still loving caravaning but desperate to find a solution as we rely on a mover thanks again Nick, I will keep on hunting Cheers Dave

But how fast does this respond? Does it miss counts if you rotate it fast? Also, how does it handle jitter (like if you were trying to use this as position feedback from a motor). You are only counting on rising edges, so if one of the pins "jitters", your counter will count, even though the shaft is essentially stopped (but vibrating - jittering - a little bit.) Altering your interrupts to trigger on CHANGE could solve that, but there is still the issue of speed. How quickly can you get into your ISR routine, and read the states of the two inputs, before they change again. There supposedly is a hardware function in the timers to act as encoder counters, but I haven't been able to get it to work as specified handling jitter correctly.

I have the same system fitted on my van and find it hard to find a spot where the receiver connects to the handset, it clicks on and off repeatedly until I find a "sweet spot". Can I extend the receiver wire, or locate it differently ?
@NickNorton2 жыл бұрын
The receiver antenna connects to the small circuit board shown in the video. You could try moving this wire position. If you want to relocate the antenna position more than several inches. You should use some UHF Coax to provide an extension cable for the intended antenna mounting point. This all assumes your Transmitter and Receiver are working correctly, on the same frequency and not faulty.
@johnmackenzie74872 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that. When I said locate differently, what I really meant was orientate it differently, but I shall fiddle with it and see if I can improve matters.

If you have a mouse with side-buttons and want to be able to keep using them I recommend this video instead kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHfGoXapp66jj80 Of particular importance is the part where you run imwheel, where you need to add the -b "4 5" paramater to it, so you don't modify the side-buttons too and disable them.

Cool. Thank you for your comment, pinned to the top. Firefox users also have the option to scroll fast by checking Preferences -> General -> Browsing -> Use autoscrolling Middle Clicking the Mouse then gives you the option to scroll the page up and down, without having to walk your finger over the scroll wheel.

Hello. maybe you can help me how to solve the problem with my switchboard. I have an identical model. it is in no way possible to pair the control unit with the remote control. there is also no reaction on the cable (the light comes on). where to look for the reason - in the remote control or the switchboard? the remote control sends a signal because you can hear it on the radio on long waves. relays in the central unit are checked and they are ok.
@NickNorton3 жыл бұрын
On the switchboard, locate the R.F. Receiver module and examine it very closely for corrosion. From what I can remember, it is a surface mount construction on a ceramic substrate. You will be looking for degradation of the solder joins on surface mount components.

The script works very well, however, it disables forward and backward clicks.
@NickNorton3 жыл бұрын
It would be nice to fix that. I don't have a multi button mouse connected at the moment. It will be caused by the parameters passed to imwheel in the script. Thank you for the heads up.

My power touch classic mover has stopped communicating wirelessly but works fine with the cable. It is nearly 10 years old but the hours on it must be in the very low single digits. I just use it to get on and off the drive. One minute each way max. If a tv stopped working after 3 hours the company would go out of business. My mobile phones are never turned off. Thousands of hours. Under water. Covered in dust. Hot cold. Working fine. Come to the conclusion that powertouch is like every other caravan product. Expensive to buy and designed to cost you money throughout the ownership. £275 for a circuit board and some blue plastic? £115 for a remote? It would be cheaper to pay some muscle £20 a time to push the van on and off the drive everytime i went away. Shite.

Love the neat Transformer Winder. The all mechanical one at the Technical University in Hannover Germany, used for similar jobs, was the size of a small lathe. Did you find out why the transformer got cooked in the first place?
@NickNorton5 жыл бұрын
I bet the one you saw in Hannover was impressive. The transformer got cooked just because the winding shorted. Lots of volts and too little insulation. I still have the same Oscilloscope today. But I do have a fancy pants Digital one to sit with it.

Hi, is it possible to theoretically build a a miniature DAB transmitter that could transmit a signal to all cars within a 100m range of the transmitter only, regardless of radio channel tuned to?
@NickNorton6 жыл бұрын
You'd have to monitor all Band III (174-240 MHz) broadcasts in your range and then re-transmit DAB on the carrier frequencies you detected. DAB is not quite as trivial as FM or FM+RDS. You would surely be breaking a whole bunch of laws too.
