This is just great! You even play scales and bass notes with this drum, and the music gets a sophisticated rhythmic dimension that the original lacks (although the original is great too). I wonder why the original band doesn't have a bodhran player, sounds really perfect together! How many years did you have to practice for this perfection level?

Great playing Jacob. Love the tune too. Top end of the drum sounds amazing but felt it needed a contrast of a lower tone in the drum. But that's just me and my love of low end bodhrán tones. Merry Christmas.
@JacobMcCauleyBodhran Жыл бұрын
Cheers Jeremy! This one is definitely a more top end/higher register type of track. I'll have to look at choosing the next track with a little more emphasis on lower tones just for you 😉 Check out Wasabi if you haven't yet as it may be slightly more your cup of tea. Merry Christmas to you too!

What mic are you using? Is the bodhran you're playing from Christian H? Great sound and dynamic!
@JacobMcCauleyBodhran Жыл бұрын
It's an AKG Perception. I've been using it off and on for probably close to 15 years now both in the studio and live and it's a fantastic mic for the price. Yes, the drum is a Hedwitschak. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. Cheers!

Nice! I love the wide voice range that has. How much was that little gem?
@JacobMcCauleyBodhran6 жыл бұрын
It was a one-off drum and a collaboration between myself and the maker, Christian Hedwitschak, so unfortunately it's not a model that's for sale at this point in time. Lovely sounding drum though for sure. Needs a re-skin at the moment, but perhaps once that's done I can do a follow-up video as it will instead have a TwinSkin head which is now my preferred skin on all my drums.
@timthompson22116 жыл бұрын
@@JacobMcCauleyBodhran well, that's too bad. Any suggestions on another drum of his that sound as good as that one or close to it. I prefer the 16in bodhran and up. Hopefully you don't suggest one with the knot work that he did. I can't see spending $1,300 on a drum. I'm too afraid to pull the thing out LOL.

Gorgeous drum and solo!
@JacobMcCauleyBodhran12 жыл бұрын
@chade2112 KZbin is not allowing me to respond to your comment for some reason so here is my response: It is 13" diameter and 12" deep. There have been other deep drums made, but none such as this featuring a more open design and a sound hole, which greatly improves the clarity of sound. As of this point it is just one-off drum, but there is a possibility for more research and testing to be done it. With advancements in skin technology (Twin-Skin) there are new possibilities for it as well.
